OK.. so earlier I answered a question about Hope. I tried in my answer to stay away from mentioning faith... but I wonder

How much is faith connected to hope?

and it doesn't have to be faith in a god (christian or otherwise) just faith in general......

i believe they are intertwined. faith means a belief in something that you cannot prove indefinately. therefore, you hope what you believe is true

Excellent question. I have concluded that Faith (of any kind) is really "the religion" of Hope. I won't define hope here, as I think there is a common understanding of what it is and what it does for people.

The importance of Hope as a divine quality goes back in the western world to Pandora's box in Greek mythology, circa 700 BC.

Pandora, in the Greek's world, was the first woman - like Eve. And like Eve, she is blamed for all the troubles of mankind! Do we see a pattern here??

Faiths are, in my view, an institutionalized way of having and sharing... hope.

To Christians and others religious types, hope seems inseparable from their faith. But people without faith in anything have hope and hopes as well. Therefore, faith and hope are intertwined only in an individuals mind. It is clearly possible to have hope without having faith in anything.

"Faith is the substance of things hoped for..."
The connection is very real. It is where faith is put into action.
Here's a concrete example: I have faith that a bridge will bear my weight as I cross a river. My hope is to safely cross the river. The action is to step out onto the bridge.

The bible say, Romans 10:17
So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Hebrews 11:1
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Ephesians 2:8
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Substance in the dictionary means:The ultimate reality that underlies all outward manifestations and change. In life we hope for change. The bible is telling us that Faith means :The ultimate reality that underlies all outward manifestations and change.
You have to know by faith that WHATEVER you are Hoping for Will show up. It WIll happen!! But if you read the first scripture you can see that Faith comes by hearing the word of GOD. Taking heed to the word of GOD and when you take heed it creates change because now you have not trusted in yourself for a situation but you have submitted your self to god because you listen to his commands...you were obedeint knowing that GOD in Jeremiah 29:11say's For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Notice God says, plans to give you hope and a future.
so now that your faith is in God knowing that he will GIVE you what you HOPE for because you trusted him when he told you to do something he is able to bring what you were HOPING for to an outward manifestations and change.

I hope you got that cuz that was GOD.
However, you can ONLY hear the word of by accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and savior the bible says in, John 6:44
No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.
I would like to extend the invitation to accept Jesus Christ as your lord and savior with this simple prayer.
Jesus come into my life be my lord be my savior I heard the word by faith and accept it. Forgive me father of my sins every wrong, thing every, bad thing, I've ever done or ever will do. I thank you and I love you. in Jesus name Amen.

May God continue to revel his word to you.
God Bless

Very much and I'll tell you why you couldn't dissect the two.
The bible's definition of faith is "The substance of things hoped for...the evidence of things not seen." Heb. 11:1

If we don't believe we are hopeless.
So, have faith in God and hope that your dreams will come true, if you have decent dreams, OK?
