It is too bad Adam and Eve had no experience of sin or much else when Eve listened to the serpent and both of them ate fruit of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. The pair of them were both innocent and naive. The serpent was instramental in the original sin.

But where did the serpent come from. This Eden was paradice. Hardly a place for a trickster.

Clearly it was not Adam and Eve's fault unless you decide that Women are basically evil and greedy, eternally unsatisfied etc. Then you could say Eve was in league with the devil and Adam (if only God had not given him free will) was lead astray. Either way, casting them out of Eden was a bit harsh if you ask me and portrays God as a ruthless dictator more than anything else.

The serpent was a tresspasser! The devil had no right or authority to be there! He was doing something illegal. Then he caused Eve to doubt The Word of God! Sound familiar? And when Adam didn't use his God Given authority and cast the devil from the Garden (That's the trouble with being the first people, you do one little thing wrong and EVERYBODY hears about it!!) and partook of the fruit, the devil legally gained dominion of the earth. But the Lord always provides a way out from the devils dominion. Acts 2:38 is our ticket into the Kingdom of God!

The serpent represented evil and temptation. While Adam and Eve were innocent of sin or wrongdoing, they nevertheless disobeyed God, who had put them to the test. They failed miserably. That's why women have pain in childbirth, and everyone hates snakes. That's about as simple as I can put it. It doesn't seem fair, does it? I mean that everyone suffers as a result of the "original sin"! It's like making the entire class stay after school because of the wrongdoing of one student.

The more that I consider that story in the bible, I have to think that Adam and Eve were probably the mental equivalents of about 12 years old. Just under the age of puberty but old enough to physically do manual labor.

The blame they gave one another sounds like kids. The naivety that Eve showed, demonstrated a lack of maturity on her part, and the same for Adam.

So, I think a lot of the problem was that these two were too immature and too naive to understand the implications of what they did, but old enough to know better.

First of all, Adam didn't listened to the serpent. He listened to Eve who listened to the serpent, the devil. She did eat of the fruit and did give it to Adam. She was weak and disobedient of God's words. The devil was deceitful to Eve knowing that they should not do this.God allowed this to happen as a test to Adam and Eve. They failed and as a punishment , God put them in his position. To be a father to many and to take on the burdens of this world.

It was a power thing. They were not like us they were perfect and as such fully understood what they were doing.
He offered them freedom from anyone ever telling them what to do. No laws, no restrictions, decide for yourself what is good and what is bad. They were neither innocent or naive.
They fully understood what they were doing.
Even the wicked angels agreed with Satan. Just because you made them doesn't give you the right to tell them what to do. They should be able to decide for themselves what is wicked.
That is why God allowed enough time to show what happens when everyone just does what he thinks is right.
Without rules or laws some men became homosexuals and got diseases. Teenage girls got pregnant, and diseases.
By being greedy and fighting wars people died and got hurt.
We are starvation, violence, war and disease.
All from not listening to our creator.
We have eaten the animals into extinction and distroyed our forests and oceans.
On our own we haven't done to good.

God made Adam and Eve with the capacity to sin against him. He had to, otherwise their love for him wouldn't have been a choice - it would have been forced and artificial. I believe God allowed the serpent access to the garden so as not to interfere with free will, and to keep Adam and Eve's devotion to him genuine. Of course we all know they turned away from him...but better that than for God to force them not to.

The devil disguised himself in the serpent. He is God's enemy and hates that God created mankind to have fellowship with since his sorry butt was kicked out of heaven. He wants to take everyone with him, he hates us all!
He wants to be worshipped as God, that is why he promises people things just to leave them empty, broken, lonely, depressed. He's the father of all lies.
