When you stop liking the sound or when strings become too hard for your playing style, whichever happens first.

When they start to sound dead to you, if this is a brand new guitar it shouldn't be necessary, was it a display guitar, and played as a sample guitar? Maybe you just don't like the sound of the strings that are on the guitar, some guitars put cheap strings on there guitars, try a new set and see if you see the difference, depending on how much you play your guitar strings should last for about six months. Try D'addario strings, I like those a lot, for my electric acoustic and my classical !!!!!

Well usually beignner guitarist find once a month.

Its really up to how it feels, as the others said when they begin to feel 'dead',kinda twang depending the type.

If they really need changing they dont feel smooth, prolly discoloring..and beginning to rust from dirt and being over worked. =P

if its new you wont have to replace them for a while
but if you like the new string sound..then change them whenever your strings go dead
if you like the dead string sound..then change them when one of them breaks
