Before beginning the drive, Mitt Romney put Seamus, the family's hulking Irish setter, in a dog carrier and attached it to the station wagon's roof rack. He'd built a windshield for the carrier, to make the ride more comfortable for the dog.

As the oldest son, Tagg Romney commandeered the way-back of the wagon, keeping his eyes fixed out the rear window, where he glimpsed the first sign of trouble. ''Dad!'' he yelled. ''Gross!'' A brown liquid was dripping down the back window, payback from an Irish setter who'd been riding on the roof in the wind for hours.

As the rest of the boys joined in the howls of disgust, Romney coolly pulled off the highway and into a service station. There, he borrowed a hose, washed down Seamus and the car, then hopped back onto the highway. It was a tiny preview of a trait he would grow famous for in business: emotion-free crisis management.

Absolutely not. I would never vote for any candidate who does not support animal rights.

And if this story is true about Romney, it should be plastered all over the media and news showing Americans what a disgraceful individual he is.

Based on this story, I wouldn't vote for the guy. Not so much because he's emotion-free, but because he is stupid. How dumb to rig up this stupid carrier on roof rack. No common sense! Totally disorganized too. There was complete lack of planning for the trip. What if the carrier should fall off and hit another car? Idiot!

If true, that's disgraceful, especially since he's being labeled as the "Mormon candidate." I live in Utah and know that most Mormons don't do this kind of stupid thing with their animals, and I hope it doesn't get to the point where Mormons are being accused of animal rights violations.

All your dog wants is to be close to its people; why do something cruel like that?

Not in this lifetime! How can anyone, vote for someone who does not support animal rights and abuses animals. He should be prosecuted, to the fullest extent of the law, for abusing animals.

Emotion-free... careless... yep.. just what we want in a president.

Sadly, for me its going to come down to: How does each candidate feel about mandatory spay/neuter laws?

And that is a whole nother issue

If it had a windshield to put the dog on it, it means he was freking insane. SO I wouldn't vote him but he sounds like a nice man, just that he needs to feed Seasmus less fiber.
