If we stop sinceless combat and start helping others we wouldn't need to worry about stress disorders. Most problems could be solved by talking no fighting. I'm not a peace activist but I do believe in reasoning. Sometimes fighting is just not the answer. We teach kids in school not to fight but then we declare war. Does this make since?

Listen up, Troop! Chaplin Charlie, the Sky Pilot has been doing that job for years and years. If he requires any of your help, he would have called you by now, don't you think???
Besides all the Holy Joes we got in the service we got all types of Head Shrinkers who are available to the service members if the need to talk out their problems. The really neat thing is they don't call you crazy, they're there to help you readjust if you need to get your mind right.
Regarding Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, do you know all types of people get it? The Cop back in the world patrolling your streets gets it. The firefighter what rescues the little kid hiding in the burning closet gets it. Nurses and Doctors working in the Emergency Ward of your local hospital get it. PTSD in nearly all situations goes untreated for years and years until it finally comes to a head and decides to cripple your day. People with PTSD have to learn to live with it or have remainer of their lives ruined by it.
Having a Mommy to talk to about it doesn't help in most cases, being a responsible adult who is both flexible and adaptable helps. Being a person who capable of forgiving his own sins....
I suppose however if you knew first hand what you were taking about you would make a lot more sense.

Waht planet are you on?
If they start doing that touchie feelie crap they will die in the harsh world outside the wire.
Talk to any cop on the street- cops die because they are not able to shift from civilized to feral in the instant required during a confrontation.
let the soldiers be, they need that!
Worry about Mom and apple pie when they get out of the Combat Zone.
While in the zone they need the macho stuff to survive.

They don't necessarily have to be motherly.
Chaplains, I think are great for talking to about any issues you have, military or otherwise, that may be bothering you.
Sending out troubled soldiers into combat zones isn't the smartest idea.

In my opinion NO. Get there, get it done, go home and THEN think about all else. You don't want to admit or try to confront your fears in a combat zone. You need to keep your head in the game. The more you think about fears, the more prevalent they will be.
This is of course my opinion.

That's what they have chaplains for.
Or you can always speak with your master sergeant, who may act much like a mother to you, even if he doesn't use exactly the same words or bake you cookies.

Yeah, but it would be a bit tiresome carrying her around in your rucksack all the time. . . . space that could be used to carry more ammo to waste more bad guys.
