I don't really like nor dislike NASCAR, but I don't usually watch it, attend races, nor do I "get into it". I gave it an honest try but I'm probably never going to be a fan. I suppose if there was a particular driver that I would get behind and cheer for I could get into it more.
Plusses : The last 10-20 laps are usually exciting to watch, especially since more often then not someone will screw up and crash, which is really fun when it takes out someone, and that guy is getting interviewed right after someone just destroyed their weekend and they're so pissed, but they're trying to be cool about it on national TV. But then every once in a while they can't help themselves and go up to the guy that wrecked them and scream at them or throw their helmet at them.
Minuses : I don't get the point system, where you do well not necessarily by winning races but by never finishing last, which means being lucky enough not to have your engine blown or not getting hit by someone else. That doesn't sound very fair if the best driver does poorly because someone else takes him out a couple times. I also think the races are too long, particularly because what happens is they collect all the cars after a crash which always happens with 10-20 laps anyway, so even if you're just outrunning the field it doesn't matter if you get a late jump on the final restart.
Check it out, I didn't even say "redneck" or "driving in circles" like everybody else :)

I love the sound of the engines revving. I love how fast the drivers go. I love how the final 10 laps are nail biting! (For example last weeks race!) I LOVE NASCAR!!! The only thing I dislike about NASCAR is the chase thing. Jeff Gordon would have like 7 championships by now without that chase thing.
Jeff Gordon Rules!!!

I don't DISLIKE nascar, but I'm not a fan of it either.....I'd rather watch the locals race on a dirt track personally...i don't know why people call it a sport either. Sure it takes a lot of skill, but so does welding. They are great drivers, I respect their ability BUT driving in a circle is not a sport. It is a race. It is driving. I respect the hell out of their abilities and certainly understand why people can be fans of nascar. To each their own!

I like it because it's a type of racing that has personality and fan appeal. After you watch it for a while you get interested in knowing things about the drivers, and you'll find one that's your favorite. And you'll have a few drivers that you dislike too. To me, it's way more interesting than IRL or F1. And if you've never been to a race, you really need to go.

I like it for the competition, the raw emotion, and the technical intricicies related to the sport. Also, you can take your own beer into a race. No other sport can beat that!

I dislike Nascar because I do not consider cars with logos all over them, going in cirlces several hundreds times, a sport. It's boring.

I agree with Big Rick . . .
And I like the fact that my eye can go to any one of 43 area's on the track, as well as their pits and find something different going on and happening every single minute.
Oh, and the sound. I love the sound.

I don't dislike it, just do not understand the interest in watch a few cars go around in a circle. I do look forward to the great crashes highlighted on ESPN
