I would go for Glenn Finnich. A nice single malt whiskey, good for sipping, you'll appreciate it more too. Anything Scottish or Irish.

You can never go wrong with Early Times! It's complex, smooth, and will get you as drunk as a hoot. Try it on the rocks. If your looking to impress someone then go with the Crown Royal or Jack Reserve etc. But if youre just looking for a great all around whiskey that will put some hair on your chest (and back) then go with Early Times.

Personally, when in the market for something affordable but not rotgut, I choose Canadian Club. It is a blend, so it is smooth, but not bland. It's really best mixed though, I think. For something a bit more full-bodied, but still affordable, check out Bushmill's Irish Whiskey. It's not too expensive, and is excellent sipped slowly, straight. Hope this helps!

Crown is expensive, so is Jack... but those are the only two I'll drink. All others taste like the north end of a south bound mule.
