It's not the meat that's bad... it's what you have with the meat.

Cut back on the fats, such as, cream sauces, mayo and dressing.

Also, cut back on your starches, such as, bread, chips, french fries, rice and pasta.

Eat more veggies.

Meat is fine (red or white) as long as its lean. Protein is really necessary, especially if you want to retain muscle when you're losing weight. Steaks are fine - just cut back your portions, have 2 kinds of vegetables with them (potatoes and corn don't count - they're both starches!), like a salad and some cooked veg, some whole grain such as wild rice pilaf and some fruit for dessert. Not only will you lose weight, you'll feel much better too.

Processed fast food is NOT good for you. Full of chemicals which damage your metabolism, don't provide adequate nutrition so you're hungry again shortly after and well, make you gain weight.

You want a burger? Make one at home out of lean ground beef. I buy the 96% lean beef at the store and add some spices and grill it up. Yummy and better for you.

You want McDonalds and KFC? Fine, have them once in a great while as a treat. Reward yourself. If you start eating a healthy diet with whole grains, lean meats and lots of fruits and vegetables, you'll find fast food just doesn't taste as good once you've had a break from it and sometimes will make you downright ill from eating that much fat when your body has adjusted to healthy.

Good luck and if you need some support for this, try Weight Watchers or talk to your doctor about getting a nutritionist. It can really help.

It sounds like your problem isn't meat, it seems you have trouble with commitment and discipline. It takes a lot of effort and strategies to lose weight. I'd suggest going to your GP and talking to him/her about it. They'll be able to refer you to a dietician who can help you understand about food and portion control. Your GP will also be able to give you advice on exercise, depending on where you're at. You may want to join a gym.

Try mushrooms. Dice up portabello mushrooms really fine and put sloppy joe sauce on them. You can also brush the portabello cap with olive oil and seasonings and grill to use in place of the beef in a burger. They have a "meaty" consistency. :)

That meat will give you the strength to kick the butt of any skinny holier-than-thou vegetarian. Why quit while you are eating real protein?
