Just have close family for dinner and drinks.
This would BE your wedding, don't plan 'another' one!!! That's wrong...

Save the money that you'd spend on a big wedding for other things like a down payment on a house or buying an automobile. A restaurant is a great idea or hire a caterer and have a party in a park if your apartment is small . You'll spend about the same as you would for a restaurant. Or depending on the "style " you could reserve a place at a park and just have someone pick up take out food and beverages. It depends on what you and your family and friends will enjoy. The main thing is to celebrate your wedding day with friends and family. Save the big party for your 10th anniversary or be quirky and make it your 7th. Finances should dictate your decisions. debt = no good.

Find a local hotel that has a band and pay them (20-$40) to play a first dance song for the both of you, then either go out to dinner-doesn´t have to be expensive-with family and friends, and this way, you don´t have to worry about clean up before or afterwards.
Best wishes to you!

When my cousin and her now ex-husband got married at the courthouse, we all went back to her parents' house for cake and goodies with the families. It was a lot of fun and much less maintenance than having the big, huge reception.
Good luck!

i like the idea of going to dinner with friends. it's not so much how big the celebration is, but how much YOU enjoy it. Congratulation and best wishes.
