As a Christian myself I can tell you this frustrates me to no end and to try to get the ones who do the cherry picking to see what they are doing, well it is impossible.
Leviticus was written at a certain time for a certain people.
If people do not agree with that then they really need to start attacking the people who walk out of Red Lobster just like they do Homosexuals.
We tend to pick things to be abominations that don't directly affect us. . .it is easier to tell someone else they are going to hell then to consider our own fault. . .sad . . .and I do my absolute best to not be guilty of that.

Ah, they only protest those abominations they don't like... If they happen to like a particular abomination we get the old "but Jesus did away with "those" laws because he loves us"... in other words... their personal God respects one group over another, shows favoritism to those who give themselves the label "Christian". Nothing Just about this one... Though, if it comes down to being judged for every abomination in the OT then I'd say I would be better off than they are... and I'm one of those dirty Pagans. *wink*
They should be reminded that their own book states... Judge not lest you be judged by the SAME measure you have judged.... They can't run from laws that they push on other people. If their God is Just as they claim, he'll be laying the OT down on them as well.

In my 52 years, I've seen people protest everything from seating arrangements, to eating swordfish, to watching Mr. MaGoo cartoons. Go...and sin no more...amen...
I think the church started down the wrong protest path, when the turned against wine, as a part of a balanced diet. Vitamen Grape...prohibition=zero tolerance...

Christians protesting... I don't know.
But as far as the food thing goes. I know you have probably seen this or something like it before. But Jesus came in the NT and changed all the rules (and in the middle of the game!)
Matthew 15:10-11 (New International Version)
10Jesus called the crowd to him and said, "Listen and understand.
11What goes into a man's mouth does not make him 'unclean,' but what comes out of his mouth, that is what makes him 'unclean.' "

If you're going to complain about God, at least get your facts right before doing so. Otherwise you just look foolish and don't know what you're talking about.
What you're referring to is part of the old law that was fulfilled when Jesus came and died for our sins. Now, no foods are considered unclean, and eating shellfish is not an abomination, so your question is moot. If you're confused about this, you should read the Bible to help clarify it for you.

Their unchanging god usually changes his mind about OT things his followers find they like.
