I rented a vehicle from one of the big rental car companies. I had a set weekly rate and they were supposed to honor that amount.Instead they forced a charge through my credit card, that was 300 more than it should have been. This caused me to go over my credit limit which I paid and some.Only to come find out that I can't even use my credit card for 90 days. Is that legal and if so why wasn't I informed of this before. I called on several occasions to discuss how much I needed to pay and not once was I told (by the way your account is suspended for 90 days).I kept my end of the bargain in fact I paid the account within 7 days of it going over and 2 weeks before my due date. What can I do to get that extra money and my charging privleges back.? I need that money for my daughters healthcare premium and can't wait 90 days for $300 that was for a bill, not anything extra.I've tried calling and all I get is were sorry noone told you but the hold stays. All I can do is write them and wait!

A $300 charge? Was that for a deposit, for extra time that you kept the car, etc?

If it was for a deposit, you need to read your rental agreement to see what it says about deposits, how much it says they can/will charge etc.

If the deposit is far above what is in your rental agreement, you should dispute that charge with your credit card company and request a charge back.

Unfortunately, even that will take time

Companies do sometimes send a small charge through to make sure the card is a valid card without mentioning it to the consumer, but it is generally a small amount

Read your rental agreement thoroughly, be sure that they are in the wrong before disputing the charge.

A prime reason why one shouldn't tempt fate and carry a high balance on their card close to the credit limit.

And yes, it is legal and no they don't have to tell you (see terms and conditions given you when you got the card)

I also suspect there is more to the story for your charging privileges to be suspended for 90 days.
