For me, it's playing with my children and seeing them laugh. My 3 1/2 year old is a girl and my 1 1/2 year old is a boy. The boy is the funny one, where the girl is the "maternal" one. I get a kick out of how he has started to scrunch his face up as a way of acting like arguing, and then bursting into laughter when I give him a funny look. My daughter is cute because she is so protective of him. I thank God everyday for these two, and being with them is a spiritual experience. My son is very much a mama's boy, and cries if I leave the room even if he isn't by me every moment. What gives you the greatest joy? Is that joy spiritual for you? Is something so simple as making a child laugh a thing which makes you smile just in rememberance?

As salaamu 'alaikym warahmatullahi wabaraktu, my friend.

This ones greatest joy is watching as this ones daughter awakens to the realization of awareness in this lifetime and in relationship to all else that exist.

She, at six years, nine months and seventeen days old, is very caring for others. She will give her toys, clothes and food to others whom she feels are in need. When she plays, she tries to make certain that everyone can "win". When we are experiencing financial difficulties, she will leave her pennies out for this one to find and then pretend that it is wonderful that we have found more money so as to make ends meet.

As much as this one loves her, this one realizes that one day she will need to express her "independence" so as to be herself. We may always need one another but this one must not cling to her nor have her cling to this one. Such attachments and desires cause suffering and this one would help her to seek her happiness.

Until such time as we must physically part, the sound of her laughter, her songs, her smile and her hugs will always warm an old heart. When it is necessary for us to be apart physically, the memory of these will bring me joy.

May it all be well with you.

Hello Proud one...
Joy... the feeling of joy is relative and may seem different for different persons and yet is the same joy... the feeling of happiness.
For a mother, just like you, as you have stated, is to see your children playing and making those movements that make you happy and thus give you greatest Joy.
For father.. it may be to be with his family,or his grand children or with his wife.
For young people.. the greatest joy may be achieved by being with their loved ones or parents or with friends.
Thus one can have different moments of achieving greatest joy at different time intervals in their life time. And I have passed through all of these, and yet I too have my greatest joy!
This is when I am alone that I am happiest and is having my greatest joy. I look down the memory lane and gaze at all those days bygone and those wonder full times I had and then I smile and thank my Allah and remember my Nabi (saw) and I feel recharged.
It does not imply that I do not love my family or my loved ones or my friends, and neither does it mean that I am too old ( I am 49). I love my mother, my wife, my two children and all my friends and foes too.

The days I don't have to work
The days I'm alone at home in the morning and I don;t have to go to school and I can sleep until like 2 or 3 PM and no1 will disturb me or call
The day in which I can stay at home doing nothing or just home related things (like using the computer)
The day in which none of my teachers leaves homework
The day my job is really slow and we barely do nothing (believe it or not even the boss -my cousin- have a nice day when this happens)
The day I'm at home talking with my mom and brother and we laugh about things of the past and the things my dad does (he's fun)

Have you ever noticed that what gives most of us joy are the people and things that we are the closest to?

For me, I get joy from a lot of things:
My children, especially when I see the world through their eyes.
My husband when he is having fun with all of the teens that hang around our house
Personally, I get joy from knowing my savior has given me purpose in life
And I get joy from helping others.

I find wonderful joy with my wife and in my children, and even more in my grandchildren... but the greatest joy I have is in my relationship with the living God.

By seeing one become joyous from knowing spiritualness.
