I think you mean 1080p TV, but no, it's not stupid, the ps3 works just fine with a regular TV, now if you had a 64 inch 480i screen, that would be stupid, but with a regular sized TV, you won't see jaggies.
it's true if you have an overly large screen with a low resolution, i.e. 480i, you will get jaggies, but if you have something like oh, a 27 in 1080i TV, because of the high resolution, you won't see jaggies.

Heck, no way is it stupid! I mean I'd love to buy a PS3 in Hi-Def as much as the next guy, but the only thing that matters is that the games you get are fun. Like "Tetris", for example. It doesn't have "the best graphics of any game out there", unless if you buy "Tetris Worlds" (Only On Xbox 360), but it's probably the most fun of any game I've ever played.

And i've been stoopid for the last six months.
Couldn't afford both at once, and figured HD-TVs would come down in price quicker...
Guess what, they have. I think I could have bought my PS3 and a telly for less than what i would've paid for just the same telly alone when the PS3 launched here (UK).

not really. i have a tv that has 1080i and 1080p...it automatically detects the signal that it's recieving....and for most of the games like resistance and motorstorm, they're only in 720p...so it's not stupid at all. but it is nicer in full Hd. the only thing would be for the movies.
