You would have a military connection in Lincolnshire with its County Regiment (ARMY and MILITIA).

There was very little bomber bases in WW1 based in the UK as they would not have had the range to reach the German lines in Belgium and France, there never was any bomb attacks on Germany in WW1, but the Germans used Zeppelin airships to bomb the UK.
My cousin used to live near Scampton RAF Airbase where the Red Arrows used to train, I also visited a place ran by two brothers who bought their own bomber and have a mini museum built around an old bomber base next to their chicken farm, they have no permission to fly the plane but run the bomber up and down the runway, those four engined lancasters make a sound never to be forgotten.
The brothers keep the bomber in memory of their brother who was shot down and killed during a bombing raid over Germany in WW2.
Its located near Louth as much as I can remember, the RAF Battle of Britain Group keep a flying Bomber called the "City of Lincoln" active.

RAF Cranwell
Try your local book shops like Waterstones, they usually have a selection of locally written books.....
Lincolnshire was chosen as the Bomber County due to the flat open land ripe for airfields,,,the two main landmarks being Boston Stump and Lincoln Cathedral...
Of course the first Tanks were also built at the works of A Tritton Lincoln on or around the tritton way road hence the names of some of the roads,,Chieftan way,Valentine way Centurian way,all names of tanks,,The MK1s first came from Lincoln...
