RONNETTA'S SPAGHETTI SAUCE
INGREDIENTS
1 pound lean ground beef
2 cloves garlic, crushed
1/2 cup grated onion
1 packet dry spaghetti sauce mix
1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
salt and pepper to taste
DIRECTIONS
Cook the beef, garlic, and onion in a large pot over medium-high heat until the beef has browned; stirring often to break up the meat. Stir in the sauce mix, tomato sauce, and tomato paste. Reduce heat to low, and simmer for about 30 minutes, adding water to thin if needed. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
Of course with a sauce recipe any time it calls for any type of meat, you simply leave it out if you don't want it.

This is what I always use. You wouldn't believe how much flavor this has even though it contains no meat or even garlic (and the onion practically melts into the sauce, so you hardly know it's there either)..
Tomato Sauce with Onion and Butter
--1 28-oz. can diced tomatoes ( or use whole canned tomatoes and break them up with a spoon), with their juice
--5 tablespoons butter, or just over half a stick
--1 medium onion, white or yellow, peeled and cut in half
--salt to taste--start with 1/2 teaspoon
Put the tomatoes and their juice into a saucepan, add the butter, onion and 1/2 teaspoon salt (you can add more later if it needs it). Bring to a gentle boil, reduce heat to medium-low, and cook uncovered at a slow but steady simmer for 30 minutes, or until saucelike. Stir occasionally. Taste to see if you need more salt. Fish out the onion and discard it. Use immediately or cool to room temperature and then freeze. This is perfect tossed with spaghetti, with some freshly grated Parmesan and some shredded fresh basil leaves.

I love to make homemeade sauce. This is what I do;
Dice 1/2 onion, mince 3-4 cloves of garlic, dice a bell pepper, finely chop small can of olives, open a pack of sliced mushrooms.
Add olive oil to a frying pan, saute onion and pepper for about 3-4 minutes. Add mushrooms, olives and garlic last. Saute about 3 more minutes. Saute on med heat. Garlic burns very easily and ruins the sauce. Add a bunch of italian seasoning, like 1-2 tbls with garlic. Now dump in about 2 cans of tom sc and 2 of pureed tomatoes or whatever you like. If you like it smooth use more sc, less tomatoes-chunky add diced. The longer you can let this all simmer together the better it will taste, it is always the best the next day!

You can use any recipe you find and just don't include the beef. Marinara sauce in the US is plain pasta sauce. (I only say that cause in London I ordered marinara sauce and it had all kinds of seafood in it ..... it was nice, but I don't eat seafood)

I always use epicurious.com (though allrecipes.com is good too). What you're searching for is marinara sauce. I'd give you my recipe, but it's in my head, I've never written it down. I just throw the basic stuff together.

I PERSONALLY ALWAYS ADD GREEN BELL PEPPERS, ONIONS AND MUSHROOMS. A LITTLE MINCED GARLIC IS GOOD TOO. THE SECRET IS MAKING SURE IT SIMMERS AT LEAST AN HOUR. GOOD LUCK.
