in one of the previous question.

This person wanted to know why they should love a God whose terms are pretty much what I just quoted.

Christians, how do you respond (Where is that Nun avatar when you need her, she's so insightful) to this remark. What can you offer against this?

Here my friend is what you need to know;
the Bible has three groups of people, Jews, gentiles and heathen
Jews and Gentiles have salvation, where do you think you fit in?
God said to us,I will give you the heathen for an inheritance;
which means if you are a heathen and you repent you also will be His child;
when you read the Bible from the heathen side (where I once was) you see only negatives (condemnation), but when you say Lord, you are right and I am wrong (repentance) you will see the positive side
He loves the whole world and wills that all men would be saved and wouldn't leave anyone one out that wants to be in;
the lake of fire is meant for the devil and his angels; the anti-Christ, the beast and the false prophet; don't be in their number, O.K?

My answer is simple although few will believe it. The belief in eternal torment and the immortal soul was picked up by the church of Rome at the time of Constantine from the pagans who were being acclimated into the church. There is no such belief in Judaism which is supposed to be the basis of Christianity.

God sent Jesus Christ to make the way for us. We have done nothing to deserve the price Jesus paid for us. We are sinners and need a savior and that savior is Christ. God has already made the way through Jesus , the real question should be why is it so difficult to ask Jesus to forgive you, nothing can be more simple than that, it is a free gift for us from God to redeem us. Many people say these things because they want to find a way to justify why they will not accept Christ and then they can continue in their lives thinking they have conquered the conviction that they have sin and they need a savior.

Bow before your god using your free will or you will be banished from his presence for eternity and you will suffer endless pain.

God doesn't torture us forever.

Hell is separation from God, which is painful.

Why would God bring someone who has spent their life on earth not believing in Him, to heaven to be with him?

We are all on the highway to hell already....
God put in the only "exit" ramp, Jesus Christ, for everyone... and we love him because of it.
Our choice to take it or not.
