have you reported this to the dog officer or local police. is there a leash law where you live? if there is a leash law you can take your neighbor to court and sue for the cost of any vet bills you might have incurred. try taking a different route when walking your dog to avoid this from happening again.

I had the same sort of experience. My neighbors dog came into my yard and attacked my little dog. Neighbor's dog wt. approx. 125 lbs/ my dog 20 lbs. Before it was over both my husband and I had were also attacked and bitten trying to save our dog. The owners weren't home. Both the sheriff and the animal control became involved. Our dog survived and both my husband were treated at the hospital. This dog had NO SHOTS. So at that point the health department became involved. The neighbors never even came over to see how we were. They had to get rid of their dog. I had nightmares for years. I think you should file a complaint. You never know what that dog is capable of. You may make your neighbor mad but, at the same time you may avoid another more serious attack. Good luck.

You should call animal control. There is likely a local ordinance requiring dogs be kept on a leash when outside. Alternatively, you may consider simply calling your neighbor's attention to the danger the dog creates by not being on a leash and the potential liability situation it would cause if his dog bit a child or adult.

Here in my subdivision there is a few VICIOUS dogs, and their owners don't seem to care that their dogs are dangerous dogs. One of them got loose once, and almost killed a Maltese that lives my court sack...the owner of the little white dog was shaking with fear for her little Maltese and herself; she was very courageous, she fought the huge Rottweiler until he finally released her dog.
But why only consider being an awful thing to happen if a child gets attack by a vicious dog ? Aren't our pets a type of kid too? (our pets are innocent and defenseless too) The VICIOUS dogs are like this because they were NOT raised to socialize and behave well with others.....Cesar Milan---The Dog Whisperer --- is a firm believer of there is NO such of thing of bad dogs;that the dogs that are EXTREMELY violent like that they normally are a product of bad owners.

Was the neighbor that was sitting on the porch the dog's owner? if so you need to call animal control, it's not safe at all to have a dog aggresive dog just allowed to roam. If that's not the owner then have a dog with the owner, and then call animal control.

Try getting a spray called Direct Stop (PetSmart sells it). It will not hurt a dog but it will stop a dog fight or any dog that comes out to attack. Once the dog gets sprayed a couple of times it will learn to back off...

If your dog was on a leash call the cops. if not GET ONE. Don't let this irresponsible dog owner get away with this. This is how things get banned by idiots like your neighbor who don't control their animals and let them attack other animals and people.

in a court of law it depends on the leash laws of your state and which one was unchained. If your dog was on a leash then calling animal control is your best option. if it wasnt then you dont need to have an animal.
