I am tattooed, pierced, and I have titanium Microdermal implants... There are so many stereotypes surrounding anyone with modifications, but the truth of the matter is, with most modded people, that is the *only* thing that they have in common...
I personally decided to get tattooed, pierced and implanted because I feel as though they are an outward expression of what I feel inside... They are aspects of my personality that I have chosen to make visible to everybody...
I think that body art is one of the most beautiful forms of expression out there...
I hate the stereotypes surrounding body mods... Today, I was at a restaurant with my dad, and they stuck us at a table all the way in the back, away from their other customers, even though all the tables in the front were open, and they put the people behind us at the close tables.... the only other people they brought to the back section were also visibly tattooed. It bothers me greatly to know that people are so narrow-minded that they do not understand that these mods don't change who I am.. I am the same person I was...
I don't understand why ink under my skin makes me "unable" to do a job I am otherwise qualified for. I don't see why it matters.

My first thought is wanting to get a better look to see what is so special to them that they decided to carry it with them forever, and then strike up a conversation about it.
I read this quote somewhere and it has stuck with me for years - 'the difference between a person who has a tattoo and someone who doesn't is that the inked person doesn't care if you're not'.
Some people use tattoos as a form of self expression, some as a wall to keep others out (although since tattoos are gaining more popularity, this doesn't hold true any more), or a way to show you belong. Some use it to advertise their faith, happiness, or losses. It's a visual reminder of a point in their lives - whether it be the addition of a child to the family, the loss of a loved one, or celebrating any milestone along the way.
Yes, I do believe my body is a temple - I just choose to decorate it.

It obviously doesn't both me that people have a "smattering" (cute) of body art or piercings seeing as that I have quite a bit myself.
As far was what I think about the stereotyping - well, people do it to other people no matter what. If it isn't tattoos or piercings it would be about something else - religion, politics, race, etc. So the fact that people do that I can't let it bother me. It makes some feel better about themselves to put others down and pigeon hole them.
I know those stereotypes are not true - so that's what matters, right? To label people with tattoos as people who will only have minimum wage jobs all their lives - well, I know a lot of extremely successful people who have tattoos. So that blows that one out of the water. There are a lot of unsuccessful people in this world who probably won't go anywhere in life that aren't tattooed.
I've been married 20 years, have a wonderful 13 year old son, my husband and I run our own business. We're pretty happy and successful in life.
Tattooed and pierced people are some of the most open minded, non judgmental people I know.

I have never been discriminated against because of my tattoos. I have received dirty looks, but no one has ever had the guts to say anything to me.
When I see someone with high quality body art, I think "wow that's freakin' awesome."
I get tattooed because I like it. I think it enhances my appearance. I feel about it much the same way as some people feel about a boob job or rhinoplasty...It's not absolutely necessary but it will make me look a whole lot better. Maybe some people don't agree, but it's not their body.
I don't care about the stereotype surrounding it. I know what i am and what I'm not, and my ink is just a decoration on my skin.

I have 8 tattoos and my tongue pierced! I got my first tatt when i was 18 and it has been an on going project for the past 10 years. It's very addictive once you start! The only thing is that I dont like about getting tattooed is that some employers ( such as mine) Either wont hire you or they make you cover them up!

Unfortunately, most places do discriminate against unusually colored hair and piercings. You got most of the places I thought of except some call centers, overnight jobs doing stocking or warehouse work and Claire's. Claire's dress code allows for two facial piercings (you could always get a U-ring for your septum and turn it up), but it's usually at the discretion of the district manager who gets hired. Some stylists also don't have a dress code, but you do have to go to school for that one. Good luck with the job search!

Let people be who they want to be. We were taught in school that when we grow up we can be whoever you want to be, and who are all these people who are now trying to take back those words? I think people discriminate against people with tattoos, and piercings are also those who discriminate against other minorities. Just like girls who gossip a lot, these people are the people that talk down to others just because they have confidence issues. Stop hating on those who are different than you and spend your time more wisely, go pay your debt our spend time with your child. Read a good book or go look for a job.

I personally think a tattoo or two is ok even cute sometimes, but when I see people who have their arms covered I think it's too much. I know some people who have had to cover themselves at work or put tape on piercings, so think about that too. Other than that it's your body and you can do with it whatever you want.

If it's something stupid or one of the "tribal" tattoos (not dissing anyone who gets a tattoo in the fashion of an actual tribe, i mean the "tribalesque" armbands or whatnot) I just think wow...shallow. If it's something that looks like it would be significant or actually beautiful it could be any number of reactions but often it's one of attraction.
I got my ink and piercing for significant personal reasons as well as beauty.
I hate the sterotype but I've found myself capitalizing on it before.

I generally like tattooes gals. But Depends on the tattoo. I don't like heavily tattooed gals though.
Piercings? Tongue- Not cool . Navel ok . Nose- As long as you don't wear a heavy steel nose ring like a pig , I don't mind.
I mean have mercy on my eyes man! Don't make it too flashy and I don't care. You won't catch me with anyone sporting a Nazi swastika.
And as far as erotic modifications are concerned, I really don't mind anything kinky ( as long as i am not the one pierced), but if your planning to do something really flashy, make sure you don't travel by a plane. Don't want the metal detector to go beep beepat your crotch, do you?
