My AKO password is set to expire and instead of driving the 1.5 hours to the nearest post to login with mycac every time this happens I would prefer to purchase my own if possible..

We bought ours at the PX on base...i think best buy sell's them but you have to ask for them.. I think we only paid $20 on post.
Let me tell you if you have windows vista, it will not work yet on it. We put it on our other computer running windows 2000. so im sure it would work on windows xp too.

I hate that whole CAC nonsense; all it's done is mean an increase of idiots leaving their cards in computers. I have no trouble logging into AKO with my password, which is just as well since I no longer have an active CAC card anyway. Have you tried contacting the AKO Helpdesk and inquiring how to set it up so that you don't have to use a CAC card to log in at home?

Talk to the AKO administrator at the Army post or at the local Army Reserve Center/National Guard Armoury. They should have CAC card readers and can give you one free of charge.
