I have been debating on purchasing a new 2007 wrangler. I am fairly sure that I want one although, but I was hoping for some feedback first.

I owned a 93’ wrangler, wrecked it, but loved it. I am debating on getting the new 3 piece hard top, but I have no garage. I would be forced to store it in a basement if I ever took it off. I have not attempted to take one off, is it heavy, will it fit through a standard door? Let me know what you think.

Are the new soft tops any quieter than the ones back in 93’?

1st off, 2 dr or 4 door??. 2 dr hardtop (freedom top) shouldn't be too heavy since the 2 front tops are light, the back half will be lighter than your 93 top since it will be the back half only. 4dr should be bout the same as your 93, the top from the "B" piller back looks like your 93 as in size. weight don't know haven't removed any in the shop or at shows.
you can always order both tops in a package i've heard so the soft top could be used in the summer and hard in the winter months.

I have a 2007 4 door wrangler and It is a great vehicle. I have the soft top, but I intended on buying the hard top when I went to the dealer to buy the jeep. I drove them back to back and there was almost no difference in interior noise levels. In the end I think I like the soft top better because you don't have to store it anywhere. The front of the soft top folds back to open up over the front and back seats, or goes down all the way. The hard top has the removable panels over just the front seats. I am not sure about the 2 door, but on the 4 door the rear section of the top weighs in the neighborhood of 150 pounds and is too bulky for one person alone to remove. I doubt you would be able to store it in a basement, so a soft top may work better for you. Other than that, no problems so far, its very quiet (quieter than my 2000 Cherokee) and gets ok mileage (I get about 18 with mixed driving, but I pushed it past 21 with all highway), the back seat in the 4 door is big enough for 2 actual adults and the front seat is very comfortable as well. The new engine is a proven engine, that actually makes more HP and torque than the 4.0l but is much smoother and quieter.

The 2007 wrangler is my 3rd jeep, I drove the wheels of my cj7 (literally the salt water rusted it apart), bought a 91 wrangler new and drove it for 12 years (regretted selling it), and now I have a 2007 2dr. Cut to the chase, it's lost a lot of the utilitarian qualities, but the soft top is quiet of course it's not a year old yet. The engine strong and gets about 16 mpg, unlike either of my two previous jeeps and it's large enough to carry around 4 full size people. I just purchased a new 06 because I didn't like the changes for 07. The straight 6 in the Wrangler has been around for ever, easy to work on, and pulls like crazy. The new 07 has a V-6 out of the mini van. I'm sure it's fine, but I like the ease of the straight 6. Also they made the fender flares wider and flatter which I didn't like. I love my 65th Anniversary Wrangler and the 0% financing on 06's made the deal sweeter.
