If you had time on your hands, what would you learn/ study? Ah, let's say you are nearly 40 years old.?

Another language, such as French, German, Italien or Spanish. Or even something such as Japanese if you want to push yourself.

I have studied almost every year since 26 - am now 42 (left school with nothing) and have studied: Maths, english, chemistry, physics, ecology, sign language, hedgelaying (and various other countryside skills - including chain saw certificate), forest school skills, counselling skills and various other useless things - all because i wanted to and none have any relation to what i do as a job.... ( i work in careers....?? so maybe they do....??)

I decided to give myself a break this year - but what i really would like to do...and maybe will next year, is hairdressing....why.....i have no idea....?? just looks interesting and if i have to spend time studying it has to be something i can be bothered to leave the house on a cold november evening for..... cos evening classes aren't so appealing when its cold outside....

Study people.

I am actually 43 years old this year. As I grew up and stepped out of school into living in the real world, I realized that the most important ability a person can have is not about theoretical subjects as they are taught in schools, nor vocational subjects such as how to fix this or that; or professional subjects like how to benchmark this and that, but the most important skill of all is the ability to study people well.

Studying people means to be able to know what they are thinking, to be able to empathize with them, to be able to guess what are important to them - what motivates them, to be able to say what you want to say in a way that they would want to listen.

It's not difficult to study people because you meet them all the time. You can do it anywhere, almost anytime. You can do it while doing something else, for example you can study a waitress while she takes your order, or customers if you are the waitress. You can study friends - you certainly need to study adversaries - teachers, strangers, celebrities, role models, everyone.

The benefit of studying people is that you would be able to see things from their perspectives, and from there you would be able to relate how your perspective can complement or support theirs. This way they will be more likely to accept your point of view. This is not entirely the same as being manipulative. By being able to study and understand other people well, you would be better equipped to appreciate their points of views, even live out your differences, and thus become a more tolerant and understanding person.

Thus, if I have the time and money to spare, I would take up a hobby or interest that will give me opportunities to study people. Such interests would include photography, writing, traveling and of course, reading more postings on Yahoo Answers.

I'm nearly 40 years old, so I guess I can tackle this one. I am currently learning about herbs. I garden, and though I have only ever planted herbs for use in cooking, I am quickly learning that they have so many other uses.

Is it popular, i could say particular. Is it effortless, probable no longer. At 15, I knew each and every of the international's international places and their capitals, and had an in-intensity understanding of the main serious counties.

Economics. By the time you get your degree you are 43, gives you 20 years to make your fortune.
If I was single I would study the thing with the highest ratio of women to men. (aerobics?).
