Let them make their own sandwiches for lunch. Have an assortment of breads/buns and deli meats/cheeses. Offer chips, and cookies for dessert.

Throw a lasagna (premade by you or Stouffer's) in the oven for supper. serve w/ salad and cheesecake.

Most do a roast again, but personally i would prefer your buffet idea. Maybe you could do a selction of meats plus jackets as you said and then that should keep all happy. If you want to go completly different go for rice with something or even pizzas. For pudding how about a nice fruit salad and also something like a banoffi pie for those that can handle the heavy stuff again. For a really yummy recipe look on the back of a Carnations condensed milk tin. Cranium and scattergories are both great party games. you can either pay out for them or make your own versions for a lot less. Pictionary is another good one. For the kids draw some maps and then grid it. Get the kids to colour it and decide where treasure is buried. The winner gets some treats. For added fun, do the same for aduts, but draw a kitchen. Whoever finds the hidden washing up liquid gets to help with the washing/drying up!

Im doing this same thing this weekend, this is what I will do.
Lunch- definately sandwhiches but I think I will do salads, chicken salad, tuna salad and egg salad with pb and j for the picky ones. I will have chips, dips, salsas and veggies available for snacks anytime. Because we will be playing outside alot, popsicles in the freezer to cool off the kids. Lots of sodas and juice boxes. Dinner will be a traditional bbq, steaks, burgers and hot dogs. Grilled veggies (zuchinni, peppers, potatoes ect) probably a potatoe or pasta dish or salad and grlic bread. Dessert will be watermelon, brownies and lemon bars.

Lunch - set up a sandwich bar, and have all the condiments for everyone to help themselves. Have raw veggies, fruit, and chips (which you can leave out for snacks)

Dinner - you can pre-prep kebabs and grill out. They don't take much time at all. Have hot dogs available for the kids. Pre-make devilled eggs and a couple of salads, like potato salad, green salad or pasta salad. For dessert, a sheetcake or brownies. If you don't want to grill, then pre-bake a casserole and serve with a side of steamed veggies and a salad and rolls.

When my friend's family came over (6 kids, two adults, plus my family of four) we had a couple large pizzas from Costco, cheesecake, cookies, pop, and cream puffs. Chips, cheezies, and veggies are great too.
