My puppy plays and chews on an empty bottle and I never thought she could get the protective cap off. Not sure if ingested any of it. It feels like wax to me.

Excedrin Bottle

Please talk to your veterinarian about Safe Pet Toys. Excedrin contains aspirin, which is Toxic to cats & dogs. You love your puppy and you provide her with toys. But please don't use even empty medicine bottles. The cap can be a choking hazard. So is the cylinder thingie in pill bottles, which is for absorbing moisture to preserve freshness and keep the pills from getting damp and sticking together. It may contain silica gel, an absorbant, which is also not to be eaten.

It is silica gel. It absorbs moisture from the air to keep the Excedrine fresher.

Silica gel is a granular, porous form of silica made synthetically from sodium silicate. Despite the name, silica gel is a solid.

Silica gel is most commonly encountered in everyday life as beads packed in a semi-permeable plastic. In this form, it is used as a desiccant to control local humidity in order to avoid spoilage of some goods. Because of poisonous dopants (see below) and their very high absorption of moisture, silica gel packets usually bear warnings for the user not to eat the contents, but to throw them away instead. If consumed, the pure silica gel is unlikely to cause acute or chronic illness, but would be problematic nonetheless. However, some packaged desiccants may include fungicide and/or pesticide poisons. It is not known whether these would be labelled specifically. Food-grade desiccant should not include any poisons which would cause long-term harm to humans if consumed in the quantities normally included with the items of food.

Just so you know, my dog got a hold of a silica packet. I called poison control, which you might want to do next time a pet (or child) possibly ingests an unknown substance: the silica itself is not poisonous, the container is simply a choking hazard. The silica is like eating sand or salt - not terribly pleasant, but will make you thirsty - altogether not very harmful. As long as your puppy isn't choking, you're good.

It's filled w/ dry silica, a dessicant. If moisture were to get in the bottle, the geltain-coated pills wold clump. The little wacky thing absorbs moisture first. Dont' let your dog play w/ it.

If you are referring to the desiccant, it is to absorb moisture. Not sure how much damage it would do if swallowed, but it does have the big warning not to swallow and to call doctor if you do.
