My boyfriend and I are trying to lose some weight so we got this other couple to join us. Instead of going to the gym we decided to go play tennis. We have been playing tennis for about 2-1/2 weeks now. Yesterday was weigh in day for all of us. Turns out everyone lost about 4-10 lbs, I lost 1 lb. Now i'm bummed out because I've only lost 1 lb. I've been eating pretty good-chicken and broccolli almost everyday-cut back on soda intake(only drink one 12oz. can) as to drinking about 3 a day. what am i doing wrong??? any tips would be helpful-thanks

I'm sorry you're having trouble losing weight, but here are some tips I hope are helpful:

*Drink LOADS of water. No, don't drink, GUZZLE. Not only is it really good and flushes toxins outta your system, but if you drink enough it kinda tricks your brain into thinking you're not hungry. Make sure you're getting at least 2 litres a day!

*Don't eat when you're hungry, because if you do, you tend to overeat (the brain takes 20 mins to realise that it's full so if you eat until you feel full you will regret it later) so have a set kinda schedule to eat - why not use your school routine like the times when you have break and lunch and stuff.

*Drink herbal tea. Actresses like Eva Longoria drink this a lot because it tricks the brain into thinking it's full (and it's more effective than the water thing) and so they don't need to eat as much.

*Walk instead of driving. If you can't walk, cycle. If you can't cycle, keep moving your feet around in the car.

*Get up 10 minutes earlier everyday, turn on the CD Player and dance like a total LOON, it's the best time of the day to exercise because it gets your metabolism going faster.

*Have a good breakfast EVERY morning, it also gets your metabolism going faster.

*If you're a crisp/potato chip addict, confuse your brain by having an apple. The crunchiness makess your brain think that you're eating crisps/potato chips.

*Try diabetic chocolate - it doesn't have as much sugar and fat and stuff in.

*Satisfy your chocolate craving by eating sugary fruits - this type of sugar is good for you in moderation.

*Swap fizzy drinks for pure fruit juices.

Hope this helps, and good luck with the weight loss, but don't go crazy xo

P.S. I don't really know what metabolism, but I know it's good if it's quite fast/high.

Okay...I only started last monday...All I do is walk one hour every morning. I wear a calorie counter monitor to loose weight by the numbers. I have already lost one pant size and 7 pounds. And its only been 8 days! I am a woman and have three kids and this is the method I use when I gain weight.. I am now at a size two and everyone is always amazed that I have had three kids.

Here it is:

Helpful Tips for weight loss:

1)A good way to loose weight is to use a calorie counter watch

Keep to a 1,200 food intake

Add 1,200 plus 3,500 (equals one pound of fat) ...and that is the total amount of calories you need to burn each day. Its actually really easy once you start watching the numbers and it doesn't seem like work or exercise. Its just a matter of changing the way you think about loosing weight.

I use this method when i gain some pounds. The first time I did this I went from 168 to 127

2) Most people do not get enough water in their system. Water is your body's principal chemical component, comprising, on average, 60 percent of your weight. Every system in your body depends on water. For example, water flushes toxins out of vital organs, carries nutrients to your cells and provides a moist environment for ear, nose and throat tissues.

Lack of water can lead to dehydration, a condition that occurs when you don't have enough water in your body to carry out normal functions. To determine if you are getting enough water use this simple formula.. Take your weight, for example 150 pounds and divide by 2. Take your answer which is 75 lbs and change it to ounces, in this case 75 ounces. That is how many ounces of water you need a day. Your body performs mostly on water. If you make sure you get enough water everyday your body will perform at top notch and your body will no longer have the cravings of junk food. You will have a better performing body system to help you work out and feel better thru out your day.

Keep your heart rate up!!!! If you are playing doubles in tennis and feel like you're heart rate isn't up high enough switch over to singles so you're not splitting the work out with your partner. Or you can start with a short fast paced run before you start your game so your heart rate is up when the tennis match begins. If you keep your heart rate up you'll burn more calories.. period.

Unfortunately some people just have to work a little harder to lose weight

To successfully lose weight, you must carry out
a plan to balance your caloric intake with exercise.
Ideally, dieting should be done by eating a nutritionally
balanced, low-calorie diet and increasing physical activity.
