I've had a nasty looking right tonsil for over 2mo now that has had the same mild pain associated with it. Strep is already ruled out and my doctor is sending me to an ear/nose/throat specialist to check further into it. Thanks!

My brother had cancer of the tonsil.

Squamous cell carcinoma.

All of us expected they would remove the tonsil as the first step, however the treatment was to first shrink the tumour with chemo and radiation.

They shrunk it so well, no surgery was required. He still has both tonsils and the only lingering effect is that the radiation affected the salivary glands on one side, so he must drink when eating to supplement the moisture in his mouth.

You have a good chance of a full recovery if this is the diagnosis.

Ihave never heard of cancer of the tonsils, you probably need to have your tonsils removed.Dont worry about cancer, u probably have a stubborn infection and I am glad you are going to ENT..
