It is really a shift of the land from one side to the other - rather than it sinking. Parts of it are dipping lower and the other side is raising up - and while this is happening at a slow rate - the serious problem comes with the increased flooding. As the water levels rise year to year the side that is sinking will increasingly have more flooding and certainly make it appear so.

You bet! And you can blame it all on the "mad cow" disease that is spreading through Britain's herds of livestock.

Once the cows are killed, their digestive systems no longer produce methane to keep the island afloat.

Without the methane in the cows, Great Britain is sinking faster than the bloviating flatulation of the eco-geeks can raise it. And it'll probably drag Ireland down with it.

Yes it is - part of it at least. Not so much because of the number of people, cars and all the recent rain but because of geological movements.

The south and east are sinking into the sea at a rate of approx 2mm a year whilst at the same time the north and west are rising upwards by approx the same amount.
