I had full coverage on my car, but I had not listed her as a driver yet. She was not excluded on my policy. The driver in front of her slammed on her brakes and my daughter hit her in the rear end. The driver got out and started to beat up my daughter. Will my insurance cover the damages?

Almost all policies will cover you and anyone you give permission to drive your car. However, this usually excludes members of your household.

First thing, if the person was phyically hitting your daughter, then call the police and file a battery charge against them. Hopefully, you got the names of some witnesses, that can testify to the assualt. Then the car accident will be the least of that persons problems.

Call your insurance company and see what they have to say about it. Some insurance companies exclude people under 25 unless they are on your policy.

Your daughter is obviously at fault. Hopefully, the other driver will be prosecuted for assaulting her. That aside, she probably will not be covered by your policy since she was not listed as a driver, and thus was driving without insurance.

Assuming she is a teenager who just got her license and lives in your household you should not have any trouble with coverage. Your rates will go up but the damages suffered by the other driver and their car will be covered.

If you haven't already done so you need to call your agent or insurance company right away.

I hope your daughter is OK and that you pressed charges against the dickweed who beat up your daughter.

Insurance follows the car, so if your daughter is a licsensed driver then YES, you should be covered.
