A person that denies that he's a fool will keep doing foolish things because he doesn't realize that they are foolish. A person who finally realizes that he is a fool can change. Much like alcoholics.

I always thought it was: a man who is his own lawyer has a fool for a client.
There are many ways of being a fool. The biggest way is to be blind to reality.

From the surface it appears to be reasonable, but I'd contend that "fool" and "wise" are broad, ill-defined, generic terms and that it's better to be self aware and know the limits of your knowledge and understanding.

I agree. There is so much more to learn (on all levels), and to deny this will ultimately result in a lack of growth, be it intellectual, spiritual, or emotional.

You may be correct because a wise person is one who realizes he knows nothing.
