that you had symptoms of a life threatening illness, would you have FAITH that book is telling the truth? Or would you require PROOF that you have that disease?
If yes, then why do you have FAITH in the bible?

This is a good question. Thanks for asking.

First, I am not a medical doctor, and thus I would want to get a doctor's opinion with regard to something as serious as symptoms of a life-threatening illness.

Second, as a Catholic, I believe that the Bible is not the sole authority with regard to faith and morals, but I also look to the Magisterium of the Catholic Church.

Peace be with you.

I would want proof, but use the book to help explain my symptoms to the Doctor, or if there is no doctor around, I would validate the illness by reading what will happen to me next if I do indeed have this illness. If my symptoms continue to follow what the book has said, then that is pretty good proof.

Just like the Bible, I use it as a guide and when following it makes me happy and not following it make me un-happy and brings pain, and this cycle continues for over 20 years, I then have proof that the word of God is true and is there to make us happy.

Good analogy!

I have a really bad illness right now and have been told it is four or five different things. I finally took myself off all the new miracle medicines...I did what I should have done in the beginning...I am trusting God to take care of me. I am doing so much better, you wouldn't believe. The medicine nearly killed me. Do I have more faith in God than I do in the proof, the Doctors had from medical science about what I have...They were all wrong.....I think I will trust God.

Sometimes faith is all you have. When all else fails, we turn to God....maybe we need to go through a lot of trials to learn to trust him. People on drugs, have to hit rock bottom to find God. But he is there. Sometimes an alcoholic has to put the bottle to their head and pull the trigger, before they find him....but he is there.

The scripture does say, we are to believe,,,"when" we pray that we shall have it....not later but "when' we are praying for something, we must believe it will happen. I had forgotten that. Just like you in your question...I wanted proof to have faith....it doesn't work like that...it works in reverse....first must come the faith..

I have faith in the Bible because i have been using it for over 50 years. To date, I have never had a single unanswered paryer, found a single contradiction or falsehood within it, or had a Bible promise fail for me. I have witnessed its power to change the lives of myself and those around me. I have seen its word perform miracles time and time again.

But more important then that, I have talked to author regularly. Whenever I have a question about it, I can go to him and have its meaning and power confirmed. (Kind of like having a hot line to talk to the doctor who wrote the medical book).

So it is not difficult to trust the book when it comes through time and time and time again.

i would not care what the book says but if in fact it was proven that i did hav a desise i belive that if i pray to The Lord i can be healed and if the Lord Does not heal me then i guess it is my time to join my Lord in heaven

i don't need faith in the bible because the bible and everything it says is real i don't need faith to make the bible real. They are the words and stories of the living most high God.

First of all disease is simply Dis-Ease or lack of flow and ease in your body and life, meaning your body has been trying to tell you that you are in Resistance to something, due to fear, shame, or unwilling to change. As an example If you make a Tight fist and hold it that way for Hours, Days, what will happen.. it will eventually loose blood supply, oxygen, and feelings and start to become Dis-Eased...So listen to what your body is telling you, practice breathing, stretching, meditating, drinking water, and eating a healthy balanced diet... We regenerate every cell in our body each year, so in one year, if you commit to new choices, you can either regenerate healthy or unhealthy cells for a healthy or unhealthy YOU...
In regards to Faith. Use faith as a Motivator, trusting and believing, that if you make healthy changes, identify and process your resistance, you will heal yourself..
Hope this helps
Blessings

Because God wrote it. Other books were written by men. I have faith in the Bible, because the Holy Spirit leads me into all truth. Those who do not seek the truth shall never find it. God knows our hearts, and will reveal the truth to us if He knows we are really seeking it. Those who read the Bible so they can discredit it, will never see the truth. God won't allow it. You have to have a heart for God, or want to truly find Him. If you don't, then you won't.

what book can tell you that you have a life-threatening disease? would i just lay the book on my tummy and when i pick it up it would say *cancer* or something? but if the book gives me an indication that something may be physically wrong with me, then i would start seeking until i knew the whole story about my health.

the same holds true with the bible. it gives me an indication that there is something wrong with me spiritually. i am currently seeking and won't quit until i know the truth about myself...

make sense?

Allow ME to give you an example of "Faith": A man has "FAITH" in "God", and he has "FAITH" that he'll "Go To Heaven" to be oh-so-happy with "God" when he dies, SO....... He puts a shotgun in his mouth and blows his own head off! I mean, like, Why Waste Time? Why Suffer day after day upon this sin-filled Earth??? Now, THAT is "FAITH"!!!
