A buying service or broker is a fine way to go as long as you understand that you will pay more to buy from a buying service than you will buying from the dealer. Keep in mind that buying services cannot get new vehicles from the manufactures and they must buy from the dealers. This means that you will pay two profits, one to the dealer that sells the vehicle to the broker and one to the broker. If you are comfortable with this then by all means use a buying service or take a few minutes and do a little research. You are all ready on line so just pop over to Edmund's or Consumer Reports and find out what the dealer paid for the vehicle you want. Research the value of your trade in if you have one and get prepared.
The part you hate is the fact that the dealer seems to hold all the cards, get prepared and the process will go much smoother. Also deal with the dealer on the Internet. Contact their Internet department and negotiate the cost of the vehicle and the value of your trade before you ever walk into the store. Heck if you are really good you can get them to deliver the vehicle to your home.
The process isn't that bad and can be fun if you are prepared, but paying two profits to make one purchase doesn't make much sense to me.

Ah! Who do you think works for the buying service? Car salesmen! The only difference between a buying service and a dealership is who the person you are dealing with works for.
Either way, a salesman will be between you and your next car.
If you hate dealing with salespeople buy your next car from a neighbor.

No! Adding an another person into the mix of dealers/salespeople will just complicate things and cost you more money. Make a list BEFORE you go to the dealers of what you are wanting in a car. Research cars online.. You are going to be treated a lot better if you show up prepared.

Those buying services do the same thing you can do.
The only difference is: you can get a lower price yourself. I deal with these guys all the time. They get a client, they charge a fee, and call me to buy the car, and of course i give them a fair deal, but certainly earning a profit. So you have two people earning profit on one retail sale. this may be good for fleets, but not the average buyer. If you need to know a good dealer or salesperson, contact me, I'll try to help.
good luck.
