I need to know if the CPU in a camera is damaged, will the camera stop taking pictures.

My USB port broke and I took it back to the store to see if it was covered under warranty. But when the camera left me, it was still taking pictures as normal. I had a card in there to store the pictures but I could still see the picture on the screen and the movies I took. The only thing that was wrong was I could not get the pictures to upload to my PC because the USB port was loose. Now the repair shop is telling me that the CPU is broke along with the USB port. Both which are not covered under the warranty I bought. They are offering the coverage on the internal damage now but to late for me I guess. So my question is, if the camera was working fine when it left me, did the repair shop break my CPU when they opened it up?

so the answer to your question is yes, it is possible the repair facility damaged the CPU since if it were bad when u had it, nothing would work.
HOWEVER, it is also possible that it isn't totally dead and just has a bad port which happens to drive your USB port.

Good question to ask. Is it totally dead.

If not and u don't want to buy a new one, get a card reader and transfer pic that way.

CPU is the brain of the camera, without it nothing can be done.

My advise is get a new camera. It will be a cheaper choice unless your camera is a DSLR.
