i just started cheering for my high school and at all the practices we do all the normal stuff, then in the last half we do like 200 jumps then run like 3 miles and since im sore and tired from the jumping the running is near impossible for me. we practice 5 consecutive days a week. i never stop and walk, thats the worst thing to do, i know, but its soo hard for me. what can i do to make the running easier for me, because i am so set against quitting. thanks so much in advance, i need help pretty bad.

we practice outside, when its like 90 degrees and especially intolerable because i am still hurting from the day before and we did conditioning right before running, so my muscles are sore to start with. its all i can do to not collapse and keep jogging.

If you're doing the same practice every day, you're not giving the damaged muscles time to heal properly.
If you are variing your practice routines each day to work different muscle groups, youre doing it right.

In any case...stick it out. As the year advances, you'll note that you don't feel as bad, because you've built some endurance. However, remember to take breaks, and hydrate regularily. Eat right, and exercise independantly, and REST on the weekend.

One thing you can do to help with the running is to cycle...even if it is a Stationary Bike. Do it for 30-45 minutes a day while fresh, and you will build the needed endurance.

Note: if you practice out-of-doors, and start feeling light headed and dry mouthed, GET INDOORS AND DRINK *WATER* (or Gatorade) IMMEDIATELY! Heatstroke is a killer, and not something to ignore! Learn it's symptoms and keep alert for them! Do *not* tough it out...that can be (and for many people, has been) fatal!
