I'm a Marine. Exactly what was it that I lied about? And what is it that we Marines won't do exactly?
Keep bashing the Marines though...one of us'll eventually come for you.

You are probably correct. Marine recruiters are professional and are trained to be polite and courteous when dealing with the public, regardless of how obnoxious or provoking that public becomes. They're not perfect, but they are pretty good at it.
Presuming you are simply concerned for your girlfriend, I would suggest that you help her by suggesting that she read the contract carefully and perhaps even speak to recruiters from other services as well. Additionally, you probably know some Veterans, who will be willing to tell both the good and the bad about being in the service. (The kid down the block that got kicked out for doing drugs and cannot hold a job is probably not the best person to start with.)
With regards to promises made by recruiters, remember that if it isn't in writing, it won't be honored, no matter what anyone says. (It actually tells you that in the enlistment contract.)
The military is not for everyone, and each service has advantages (and disadvantages) as well. The promise of a position at the Pentagon is probably not the best reason to join. (I avoided the place, as it has a reputation for burning folks out. Long hours, tedious work, too much rigmarole and high cost of living.)

Judging from the other questions you have ask and answered. I would expect that kind of response. I think the other poster are correct in assuming you are gutless and would not tell a marine to his face what you so boldly tell him here. It is very apparent that you know nothing about the military and seems you only made you judgment from one or two bad answers. In the military the recruiters are only concerned with filling openings they may tell you that a duty could be available to you or any other person and most of the time the recruit come out thinking they said I can get that spot in this amount of time. It is not a case of them telling you or any one what you want to hear but more a case of you only hearing what you want. Yes it is possible for a young soldier, marine or sailor to go work it the pentagon with in the first year of joining. It is not uncommon they have jobs there too. Yes most of the time you only hear of the ones with the Brass on there collar there but as in every place in the military the enlisted are the ones with there finger on the trigger they just take commands from the tower. SO SUCK IT UP, JUST BECAUSE YOU GIRL IS MORE HIGH SPEED THAN YOU DOESN’T MEAN YOU CAN BE AN ONLINE WANNABE BADA**

If it wasn't for the Marines, Army, Navy and Air Force, you wouldn't have the freedom to say this type of stuff.
Thank the heroes of the Armed Forces, past and present, for this right.

Once a Marine always a Marine! Once an azz hole always an azz hole. Two sayings I have heard, must say I agree with them. God Bless the US Marines, may the devil take the other.

Wow you have the balls to do that on yahoo answers, very impressive.
I read your other question about your girlfriend and her recruiting issues.
Maybe if you feel this way you should go into the recruiting office where the Marines in question work. Go up to them and tell them what you think, then make sure you push them while doing it.
You should do that, since your such a badass.

I sent your question on to a friend of mine who graduated from the Naval Academy in 1963 and fought in Vietnam and my son in law who also fought in Korea, Their replies should prove to be interesting as will many be from former and active Marines.

Athough I am in the Army dont base your thoughts of all Marines based on a few individuals. They have a long and outstanding history of courage, honor, and respect. It is not fair to them or any servicemember.
