They just stop evolving. That is all.
Everyone else can just continue evolving as normal.... or... just contribute to it at least, since it happens between generations; not during them.
Christianity will eventually go the way of the Neanderthals; an interesting little speciation in its own right, but ultimately less well adapted to survive in the modern world than the competition.
