God hates sin, but will forgive anybody that repents from sin.
It does not matter is it is murder, abortion, rape, incest, stealing a pencil from work, showing up for work 15 minutes late, lying, or other acts that are sin, God forgives all of them.
Failure to do otherwise would be unmerciful.
While that may seem wrong in your eyes, you have to remember that those who participate in such activities are accountable to man's system of law and justice.
The end result would be: The kid that murdered all those people at VT could have been forgiven, yet held to the death penalty for his actions.

He only forgives those who TRULY repent and turn around and STOP doing these things.(Acts 3:19)
Notice what 1st Corinthians 6:9-11 says:
"What! Do you not know that unrighteous persons will not inherit God's Kingdom? Do not be misled. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, NOR MEN KEPT FOR UNNATURAL PURPOSES, nor men who lie with men, nor thieves, nor greedy persons, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit God's Kingdom. AND YET THAT IS WHAT SOME OF YOU WERE."
Ephesians 4:22-24 says:
"You should put away the old personality which conforms to your FORMER course of conduct and which is being corrupted according to his deceptive desires; but that you should be made new in the force actuating your mind, and should put on the new personality which was created according to God's will in true righteousness and loyalty.
An example of this is Saul, who became the Apostle Paul. He was a persecutor of the Christians sending many to jail and even having a part in the stoning of Stephen. But Jesus ended up coming to Saul and making Paul an apostle to the nations to spread the word about Jesus. Read Acts 7:58,59 then Acts 8:1-3.
And read Paul's account about what kind of man he WAS but that God had mercy and undeserved kindness towards him.1st Timothy 1:12-15 says it

If such persons feel bad for what they have done and never do it again, what's wrong with forgiving them? No one is perfect; everyone has made mistakes and has sinned against God. If sins were what God watched, no one could stand up in His judgement (Psalm 130:3, 4). However, God does not exempt people from punishment. People have to pay for their mistakes, and that may include jail time for such individuals.
