I got unhappy about the fact that I left my relatives and started crying for that. Was it depression or just stress about the fact that I'll see them only after a year?

Your sadness is due to having to leave your relatives. It's understandable that you'll miss them, especially if you're really close with them. You're entitled to feel sadness and even to do some crying. You've experienced a loss and you're having a completely normal reaction to that loss.

If you find your sadness continues for several weeks, and if you find that it interferes with your normal day-to-day activities, then you might have to consider the possibility that you're having real depression. But in all likelihood, you'll rebound after a few days and the feelings of sadness will fade into the background where they belong.

Give yourself permission to go ahead and feel bad for a few days. Good luck!

Honey, this was a very normal reaction to being away from your family for an extended period. This is not depression but just normal sadness. Try to stay in touch with them often by phone, e-mail, letters, whatever way is best for all of you. The time will pass faster and you will be fine.

There is a big difference between feeling depressed - as you did, and suffering from depression. Depression as an illness lasts weeks, months or years. It is not a short term (ie hours) illness. You felt upset because of valid emotions, caused by a real event. This is not a symptom of illness.

This happed to me too because I left my relatives also. It's perfectly normal, don't worry. You missed your relatives and realized that you wouldn't see them for another year after you left them, so you cried because you were stressed and sad.
