My daughter (5)and my step-daughter (6) share a bedroom. It's about 12 x 15. Now they have a loft bed with a twin frame underneath. I HATE climbing up there and changing the sheets, it's next to impossible. We'd like to do two twin beds, but then where could we put their toys? All thoughts are greatly appreciated!

I would go two twins, because this way as they grow you wont have to buy the twin beds later, Get those big long shallow flat plastic boxes put one under each bed for the girls to keep their toys in.

Twin beds would work. Put the beds in an L shape against two walls. Get a pet net for the stuffed animals and dolls and put the net where the girls can reach to get their toys out but not on the ground. Ikea has these mesh cubbies that hang vertically and you can put small things into that (it hangs from the ceiling) You can also get an over-the-door organizer for misc. stuff. If there is enough room under their beds, get some plastic under-the-bed storage containers to hold books, barbies, doll clothes, etc.

I say get bunk beds and try it out for a while, but if you really don't like it after a while you can always take them apart and make them twin beds. My brothers had bunk beds now they are apart and used separately til this day. So you can try out both and decide which you like better after a while. If there's a latter you can just put it in the garage or something if not used.

You've answered your own question. Bunk beds involve climbing too. There are a lot of toy storage solutions these days. Do the beds that you want and that make life easy for you and research toy storage

Good luck

raise the beds to make storage underneath. they don't have to be that high, just enough to fit plastic bins or something under them. i had a really small bedroom & raised my bed to waist high so i could fit a small dresser under it to save space & it worked great! i needed a step to get in, but that was fine. real easy to change the sheets, too.

Do captians beds with storage drawers underneath for their toys. At 5 & 6, they can learn to make their own beds.

You could always get 2 twin beds that has a high base. Just high enough where you can fit plastic tubs to hold their toys. :)

i understand first hand how difficult changing those top sheets are. there are beds available now that have a pullout mattress that looks like a drawer under the original bed. it looks like this and seems to be pretty space saving: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/S59839370
