lots of different fruit! It counteracts the sickly chocolate and tastes lurvely, try melon, pineapple, mandarins, strawberries and bananas.
Colourful fruit will also make the whole thing look more appealing, (although the choccy fountain in itself is rather nice to look at, let alone slurp up!)
You cant really go wrong with dipping stuff in chocolate but why not try stuff thats a bit different for your guests to really enjoy.

Any kind of fresh sliced fruit is fabulous. If you want to get really fancy you can have the basics :
Strawberries , banana, pears, melons, marshmallows, mini donuts , profiteroles etc

Pre Dipping : Selection of liqueurs to dip the fruit in before the chocolate

Post Dipping : Chopped nuts, sprinkles , coconut etc

Yummy, yummy, can we all come too??

Anything and everything!!! I would surround the fountain with all types of fruits: stawberries, raspberries, bananas, mango, papayas, pineapples, etc. Also, some salty treats: pretzels, crackers, nuts (drizzle on chocolate). How about setting up a side table with different ice creams? That way they can make sundaes!! Place a couple of cans of whip cream in view, too!! So...umm...what time am I expected?

Strawberries! Any fruit will do, but berries are particularly yummy. Try cubes of pound or angel food cake, chunks of frozen banana, crisp cookies... just about anything that you'd eat if someone dipped it in chocolate and gave it to you. Do consider how messy each thing will be to eat, though. If raspberries won't stay on toothpicks, you'll have them floating in your fountain.

When we have used our chocolate fountain before I have always done two platters, one of fruit pieces eg, orange, strawberries, kiwis, fresh pineapple, bananas (keep the skin on and let people open them as they want them), grapes, etc etc and a platter with marshmallows, gingerbread men, profiteroles, mini donuts, and coconut bites (from asdas bakery dept.)

It doesnt work out cheap but does go down well.

Dont forget make sure that you have plenty of chocolate and spare choc to re-fill the fountain, vegatable oil to add to the chocolate otherwise it doesnt flow properly, plenty of skewers and napkins, and something disposable (tablecloth) to stand the fountain on as it does get mess, but enjoy.

Banana, strawberries or marshmallows taste really nice with melted chocolate. Kiwi fruit is also really nice too, with chocolate.

Lots of things! Strawberries, gramcrackers, marshmellows, pretzels, maybe even potato chips. Just any thing you like with chocolate.
