I am curious about something that I have heard you say many times and I just want to understand you better. Or if any one has any insight on this feel free to help me along, lol. . .

Primoa you said, "The names in the book of life have been there since before the foundations of the earth......the called....the chosen

If your name is not in there.....then you were never saved to begin with. "

So, what does this mean exactly? Are there people who are simply destined to not be saved. . .and if so then what is the point of witnessing? I ask this with all sincerity. : )

Maybe I am stupid, but I have a really hard time understanding this. We are called to witness, but the names are already written . . .so wouldn't they go to heaven no matter what I do?

I respect you a lot and your opinions and your strong stance with your faith, but I think to some extent I disagree with you. . .but it's all cool.

Skallitte, lol. . . . : )

Today's Prophet. . .well you are certainly showing your unconditional love toward Primoa aren't you? And, at least Primoa comes up with his own thoughts and answers and doesn't copy & paste the same thing over and over. Try to get an original thought dude.

I believe so....

You see, God is sovereign. He knew long ago who would be saved .......and who wouldn't.

But yet, we still have free will.

In all honesty, no one can explain the free will of man & the sovereignty of God working together....

But somehow it does....I just trust Him alone by faith.

Regardless of His soverein choice, we are still called to evangelize......for the simple reason being: We don't know who the called & the chosen are....but they're out there.

And yes....I am a Calvinist

It is not quite that simple. While there are texts that state God knew from the beginning who would be saved there are also texts which say you can loose your salvation and your name can be removed from the book of life...

Revelation 22:19 (King James Version)
And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

Well, I'm disappointed that Primoa is a Calvinist............but, hey, nobody's perfect.

I believe that he is right that the names in the book of life have been there since before the foundation of the earth...........but I strongly believe that everyone's name is there. I believe your name has to be blotted out - if you refuse the pardon offered to you by Christ.

Then , you will be judged by the law at the Day of Judgment. I believe God wants everyone there!

Take the pardon! God loves everybody!

I tend to disagree with Primoa on this, because God says He doesn't want ANYbody to perish (in hell), but that ALL should come to repentance.

Furthermore, Jesus said "Whosoever believes shall not perish but have everlasting life"

Joshua said "Choose this day whom you will serve. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD"

We can not choose if we are predestined, and other than Pharoah being raised up to show God's glory, I don't see anywhere in the Scripture anybody being predestined for hell.

The chosen is another name for the jews......so by this thinking, only jews are going to get into heaven.

So why should the rest of us bother with following laws that we wouldn't get to be the benefit of?

Ofcourse, you can tell by my name that I don't believe such things exist.

I've never heard him say that. That would mean he's pretty much conceding the point to the Jehovah's Witnesses or the Calvinists isn't he?

edit:

Of course he would have to answer right before me, making me look EXTRA stupid. Thanks Primoa ol' pal.

So, pimoa, am I to understand that God created people to go to hell? Sounds sadistic, to say the least...

Primoa doesn't need to answer this...

It is as simple as this:

Free Will or not, the christian god is Omniscient and already knows what choice everyone is going to make. Mortals do not however know yet, and are merely by their will moving the pieces into the places they are eventually meant to be in.

It sounds defeatist to me. The bible talks about the ones who never died, that's all I can think of.
