Why is the U.S giving Israel 30 billion dollars in "defence money"?

Why is the U.S using OUR tax money to help israel defence (as if they need it more than us). shouldn't someone say something, and dosn't the U.S have a war to fight that needs funding. Whats more important, israels safety from unarmed palestinians that want peace, or armor for the U.S troops, benefits for those families, and salary for troops?

It's required under the terms of the Camp David Accord, which created a peace treaty between Israel and Egypt. The accord was negotiated by President James Earl Carter III. For each dollar that Israel receives, Egypt gets an equal amount.

This was a tie-on to the Saudi weapons deal; the whole goal was to combat the growing threat of Iranian influence in Greater Syria, and the Israelis obviously weren't happy that the Saudis would be gaining more arms from us, so that's where the money came in. i agree its rediculous... i just think the U.S. wants to be liked more by other countrys, theyre giving money to the ones that dont need it.. israel can do fine by themselves they never lost a war even when they were out numbered. we the american people should have a choice if we really want it to go towards Israel's defence... so little peole have a power to use it and waste it when it should be what WE want. i am not a jew hater its just like why israel out of every other country thats in NEED of help israel is fine compared to other countries. this is insane it should be used in repairing Iraq since we are the ones destorying it. as if israel would give us money if we were in their situation.. its just another attempt to get another alli i wouldnt be surprised if we went to war with israel in 20 years..
