Catholic churches in the Netherlands should use the name Allah for God to ease tensions between Muslims and Christians, says a Dutch bishop.
Tiny Muskens, the bishop of Breda, told the Dutch TV program "Network" Monday night he believes God doesn't mind what he is called, Radio Netherlands Worldwide reported.
The Almighty is above such "discussion and bickering," he insisted.

YES!
it does!!
Matt 6:9

Jesus said @ John 17:26:
"...And I have made your name known to them
and will make it known,
in order that the love with which you loved me
may be in them and I in union with them."

And @ John 17:6:
"I have made your name manifest to the men you gave me out of the world.
They were yours, and you gave them to me,
and they have observed your word."

Deut 32:3:
For I shall declare the name of Jehovah.
Do YOU attribute greatness to our God!

Ex 33:19,20:
But he said: "I myself shall cause all my goodness to pass before your face,
and I will declare the name of Jehovah before you;
and I will favor the 1 whom I may favor,
and I will show mercy, to the 1 whom I may show mercy."
and he added: "You are not able to see my face,
because no man may see me and yet live."

Ex 34:5:
And Jehovah proceeded to come down in the cloud and station Himself there and declare the name of Jehovah.

When I 1st came into the truth, I had a conversation w/ 1 of my younger brothers.
He played D&D & I knew I could use this illustration so he could grasp the meaning better.
"What character in D&D does not know the name of his or her god" I asked him.
He replied, "None of them; they have to know the name of their god otherwise how would you know what god u r serving / worshiping"
(we were not raised Christian, & he knew this much)

THANK YOU!! There It Is!!! I said.
I then said:
"It's the same w/ us, mankind,
We Must Use His Name;
Otherwise How Do You Know What / Which God
YOU Are Serving / Worshiping!"

edit:
Wize Guy: LOL!!
yes, lil lamb; we know its YHWH.
We couldn't forget. Ever.

Many that identify themselves as Christians refer to Jesus as being God. I would think this would cause problems among people that don't believe he is the messiah, but even some of the ancient religions are familiar with YHWH or Jehovah, or Yahweh as it was the god of ancient people like Abraham. Abraham was the father of the Israelites through Isaac, and the father of the Arabs through Ismael. So, I think that if they used the name of Jehovah it might show that the religious world is more united respecting origins.

Many people have been contacted and studied with etc. some same day or next day because they prayed to god in distress and not knowing his name at the time. However when the Apostles went out to the Nations they had to teach about the God of the Israelites the creator, simular today although many know in a sense.

2 Kings 23:10 tells about how people passed their children through the fire to Molech (a false god) and 2 Corinthians 4:4 talks about the god of this system of things (who is Satan). So that there is not any confusion as to WHICH god we are speaking about when doing so, we need to use his name. So if I were speaking about my God in heaven, Jesus' father I would use the name Jehovah. If Jehovah didn't care what he was called, then he wouldn't even make his name known. Certainly, he wouldn't want you to address him as 'dude', 'hey you', 'dawg', or anything like that. When you receive phone calls the caller asks for you by name, if they asked for you by another name you wouldn't know it was you they wanted to speak to. The same would go if yYOU were calling someone (especially someone important), you wouldn't ask for just any so and so...you would ask for that particular person by name...the right name.

Well God's name is Jehovah, for one. It would be like if I called you or anyone for that matter, "Hey you, or hey girl(boy)" see you wouldn't like that. And no one would know who I'm talking too. lol. God's name is Jehovah. Because he is all mighty and powerful. And he deserves that name. He is the creator of the universe and humans. He loves everyone deeply and he wants all to know him and live their lives in accordance with the Holy Scriptures. Psalms 83:18-"That people may know that you, whose name is Jehovah, You alone are the Most High over all the earth."

yes, it does matter how you pray to god.Jesus Christ himself, taught us how to pray to his father.god has many names by which he is known in the old testament.the our father,is the correct prayer in addressing god.this so called bishop from Holland is not a catholic by saying such a thing.by trying to ease tensions between other religions, he is committing blasphemy to our faith.you can not take all religions of the world and put them in one pot,and make a goulash.this type of faith is of the one world religion concepts.every one is right, and no one is wrong.

For even though there are those who are called “gods,” whether in heaven or on earth, just as there are many “gods” and many “lords,” 1Corinthians 8:5
Since the Bible itself acknowledges the existence of other "gods", it is important that we address the true God by his personal name to differentiate him from other gods who are valueless and incompetent. (Psalm 96:5., 97:7)

Hey you all, don't forget Jehovah is the English Translation. Remember that YHWH (Yahweh) is the First and Original Name. Do not leave out that important fact.
Thank you.

Yes. In the oldest and most reliable Hebrew manuscripts of the Bible, God's name Jehovah appears almost 7,000 times. That must mean he wants us to use it.

God's name is not Jesus. Ps. 83:18 says: "That people may know that you, whose name is Jehovah, you alone are the Most High over all the earth."

At Matt. 6:9 ,Jesus said: "Our Father in the heavens, let your name be sanctified." How can we sanctify God's name if we don't use it?
