I shoot around 90 with and would obviously like to lower that number. I have a set of King Cobras that I've had for 13 years. My swing speed dictates that I use a stiff shaft and my current set are steal. I am longer than average with my driver, but like a lot of people I would like to add some distance and accuracy. Some of the newer large headed, titanium drivers are very enticing. Are they worth the 3 to 5 hundred $$ they cost? Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks in advance!

Get LAST year's Nike Sasquatch, i love the driver. It is only $200 now and it orginally was $400, pretty sweet deal. By the way do you hit a draw or a fade, if you don't draw it, get the Taylormade R7, not the quad, this is also a good deal. Good luck.

Callaway FT-5 is the way to go if your going for a new driver. It is vote the TOP driver of '07 by Golf Digest. The stock Fujikura shaft weighs only around 55 grams and the club head is made w/ some graphite and this all promotes a faster club head speed. Ever since I got mine I'm hitting 90-100% of the fairways. I tried every new driver at a demo day and this was by far the best. Good luck.

If you want a cheaper driver there different options you might want to explore. First Ping just released a G 10 driver so you might want to take a look to the G5 and Ping Rapture drivers that might be available at a better price than the original price tag. Also Cleveland is selling the 2006 Hi Bore at a very reasonable price that starts at $139 and climbs up if you want an exotic shaft. Also the Nike SQ original driver is at a modest price compared to the most recent SQ models. Taylor Made is selling their old generation titanium drivers (03-05) at a fraction of the original price. Take into consideration that manufacturers want you to buy their latest models to make a bigger profit and sell the other ones at a lower price to sell out their inventory. When you go a shop try out the different drivers and make sure that the sales rep. knows what is your budget and what are you looking for. It's not necessary to pay 400 buck for a very good and efficient drivers because the USGA restricts the COR coefficient ( that's whats makes the ball take off hot off the face) to a max of .83 and most of the drivers that are old models are at a max. COR coefficient.

I just bought the Calloway X-20 driver from golfsmith last night (they have website too). Had a ten buck off coupon (also on their site). Piad $189 for it and love it. Took it to the range and I am getting much better drives with this club. They also have the sasquatch Tiger hits was $399 now $199 limited sale. I prefer Calloway though.

I was just hitting the new Nike Square, and getting about 10 to 15 yards extra, but to me it's not worth $400+.

I like my Nike Ignite that I bought used for $100... the spin and launch just happen to fit my swing and I hit it pretty consistanly 280+. Since I'm 5'8" 160 lbs, that's not too bad.

You might think about going to a shop that can show you spin and launch information (like Golf Galaxy)... maybe you could find a lower priced or used club that fits your swing.

I bought TaylorMade's R7 Superquad in May and I hit straighter than any driver I've ever owned.

I went to a demo-days event at a local golf course and hit a bunch of the new drivers for this year. My suggestion would be to find a demo-days event and try the different drivers to see if they might improve your accuracy.
