My BF really likes golf i guess, but i think it is kindof boring. I have never acctually played golf before. So this friday we he is taking me to a driving range and he is going to teach me how to play. So, since i am not really into golf, plz fill me in on what makes it interesting. I mean will i be totally bored to death? Ooh also one more thing, he is left handed, and i am right handed, and he is going to try and teach me how to play left handed becuz we are using his golf clubs, will that we WAY harder than if i just used right handed ones?

it will be hard for you to learn left handed, it will be fun if you enjoy spending time with him, just give it a try. it will be hard, even if you are learning right handed. it is fun if you just try to go out there and have fun, try not to worry about how you play. your boyfriend is including you in a hobby that is probably usually just reserved for his guy friends, anyways just give it a go, and you might have fun

Golf is way funner to play than watch. I'm sure he won't teach you to play lefty, that would be silly. The way he holds a club will be similar and the swing will be similar (just the opposite direction). You'll get the hang of it. Most driving ranges and golf courses have clubs for you to borrow or rent. I'd do that. You'll never get it lefty.

Once you start hitting ball the game will become a bit more enjoyable for you. The best thing for you to do will probably be enjoying the time you're spending with him. You never know you may end up liking it.

It sort of has the same appeal as pool. It's really a game of skill. They don't call it a gentleman's game for nothing. You have to plan your shots there are a lot of variables that can change what you have to in a situation. Just hitting a long ball is really fun though.

I guess you could always bring beer though... The game gets pretty strange at that point though.

Well, golf is a TON more fun playing than watching. And its gonna be hard to learn left handed -- especially with guys clubs. So if you have the oppurtunity try right handed ones. And guys clubs are a lot different than girls. Guys can play with girls one fine but girls cant play with guys as easily. Either way.. just go out, don't get stressed or frustrated and just have fun :) You will love it once you learn to play. I started to play when I was little then gave it up for a couple years then started again and I got serious in the past 2 years and its so fun when you play with friends and family.
p.s. go get a cute outfit before you play -- that always seems to help :)

He can rent clubs for you at the pro shop. I used to think it was sooo boring. Well, I started working at a golf resort driving the drink cart, and it's not as dull as I expected. Depending on who you're with.
Alot of the players have mini tournaments and either play for beer or a dollar per stroke. By the end of the day one group was trying to tee off while on their knees. There've been some inventive people out there.
Main thing is 'don't take it too seriously, just enjoy spending the day with your beau. And definitely rent your own clubs.
Have fun :)

you sound like me many years ago it is how i started

so here is some advice

1. do not think you look silly we all missed the ball at first its a hard game
2. if you are busy trying not to look silly you will just look silly and not get better
3. when you finally start to hit the ball it is addictive to try to hit it farther and straighter that is the draw of golf
4. do not try it half way that is the only thing that will make him mad he just wants you to truly try it
5. if you do go golfing with him try to keep up even if you have to pick up the ball from time to time people don't care how poorly you play they just don't want to wait for you
