i grew up in a christian church, and i became very self conscious because of the stares i got from the christians. but today i look them in the eye and i pity them for being so judgemental ignorant to the fact that they dont understand the gospel of Jesus fully, but for the true christians that know love i stand by them

Oh, no, why should it? I came of age among Primitive Baptists, yet another extremist fundamentalist sect, and without doubt they were, save the alpha male of the clan, the scum of the earth. In their company the 9-year-old confirmed atheist that I was, was an angel incarnate. Here at R&S, where many, or most, Christians stand mute whilst the resident babbling sect, the Fundy gang, either spit at truth or simply haven't developed cognitively, why on earth should I feel even a smidgen of 'guilt'? I know many Christians who are decent, loving human beings. I know Fundies now only here, and believe me, I am not impressed--such a pathetic gaggle of no-thinks, of the lost and the losers--both adults and scarcely more than children who throw away their promises of creative, resourceful lives by draping themselves in religious dogma that speak not of faith but of radicalism, of hate, of racial prejudice, of ignorance, of 'group think.' Not 'guilt' but pity is what I feel.

When you are around self righteous judgmental Christians, you can feel guilty. That is condemnation.
But if you are around Christians abiding in Christ & His Word, then you feel accepted, but also convicted by the Holy Spirit if you have a sin in your life. The Holy Spirit convicts the Christian of sin in their new born spirit-man and leads to repentence.
The Holy Spirit is the one who convicts the world of one sin. (Person could feel guilty or convicted. Depending on their definition of the word.) The sin of rejecting Gods plan of Salvation through faith in Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God.

Not at all. I'm a Pagan and I've been to many Christian churches for weddings, funerals, etc. I've yet to burst into flames. When they pray, I think of my own gods. I respect their right to believe as they wish but don't feel intimidated or "guilty." Why should I? I'm just as spiritual and religious as they are.
