I thought man, they could not have gotten any more redneck looking people to talk about Nascar....so my thought was that they were trying to stereotype us Nascar fans! I live in the country and love Nascar, but I dont look like a red neck....Lord some of those interviewed were scary! Why couldnt they get normal looking fans? I think they wanted everyone to think Nascar was just for rednecks...what about you guys?

Ok, I have an accent (was raised in Ar, now live in MO) I have always lived in the country! It was NOT their accents, it was the way they looked, not to be mean! I mean honestly they only had a few normal looking people! The sport is not for just rednecks, its for regular people! I didnt watch the last 10 min of it, but i stuck w/ it as best i could, and could not help but laugh at some of the people on their they interviewed....COME ON ABC...NASCAR ISNT ONLY FOR "REDNECKS"

Yeah, they definitely tried to portray the "redneck" side of things. All it was missing was Jeff Foxworthy telling us every few minutes that "If the only foreign name you can pronounce correctly is Juan Pablo Montoya . . . . ya might be a redneck!"

And I also hope they feature different drivers week to week.

Although I did enjoy the Mark Martin bits.

Okay, I was born and raised in MO. I have an education and I now live on Brokeback Mountain. However my mother is not my sister and my grandpa is not my dad and I am not gay. Yes, I agree with you, they had an excellent cross-section of drivers and I embarrassed that they did not have a good cross-section of fans. The only thing those people had going for them is that they had most of their teeth. I think they should be ashamed for allowing nascar to look like the stereotype so many people already believe it is. Hey, by the way where do you live in MO? I'm from Trenton.

Coming from a Southern family, I am insulted that some people think an accent makes you an idiot.

They had real fans on last night, and I was o.k. with it.

I live in southern Oregon for God's sake, and you go out to our local dirt track on Saturday night? Rednecks everywhere. You love a race? I don't care if you have three teeth an a farmer's tan! You are a friend of mine.

Not being stuck-up rules!!!!!

I missed it too, but from what I have heard, you are totally correct. I was born in AR. but I didn't adopt the "twang". maybe a few "you all's,and what the hell's but nothing so redneck as what people are saying. I'm a true Nascar fan (GO KENSETH) and I love the sport. They need to show the other side of the sport. I hear its a ongoing small series, so maybe it will be better next time. I'm sort of glad I missed it.

Well it was in Atlanta, hopefully next week they will have a track outside of redneck land, There are tons of people just like those fans at most tracks so they stand out, they like the attention.. Out here in Calif, Vegas, Arizona, its a total different look, yes a few rednecks make the trip, but the true rednecks are hardly noticed. I did enjoy Connie Montoya, JPM's wife that was about it, I channel hoped as well...Hopefully ABC show's another side of Nascar next week...

I hear ya, but if you go to the races you see a lot of the down south, I like Dale Jr. have you ever heard him talk, he sounds like a redneck, I live in a little country town about 60 miles from Chicago actually I live 15 minutes from Chicagoland Speedway, and people who don't even know me have called me a redneck, and I was born and raised in Chicago. So what is a redneck? The real rednecks think it is a compliment. Who knows????? They just have a strong accent!!!!!!!!!

The best part of the entire show was the fan interviews. They showed a very wide diversity of fans. Everyting from kids, to older people, to women and men, bikers and women in suits. All gave a bit of a description of their experience at a race! Maybe it is a good idea to show the "other" side of some lesser known drivers, ie: Sauter! Maybe they will get more fans or more notariety out of it.

I definitely agree. The only ones I liked were the kids because they were kinda funny and actually had cool things to say. The two dudes with the leather vests on were a bit much for me. At least put a shirt on underneath of them. The accents didnt bother me because just because you have an accent doesnt mean you are a hillbilly.

You're right...believe it or not, 20 million fans (out of about 75 million) are from the north and have completely northern accents. ABC is just trying to stereotype everybody
