Retail, clothing stores are always fun and you have the opportunity to advance!
Office, clerical work, Get the sunday paper EVERY sunday and apply for any office job Again the opportunity to advance move up make more money.
Banks, tellers make a descent pay, and again opportunity to advance make more $!
If you don't plan on going to college I would suggest the above.
I am 20 and have lived on my own since I was 17, I worked in retail (my fav, laid back and discounts on clothes!) But now I am in an office to better support myself!
The best advice I can give you Is only buy what you need, and always work work work dont call off all the time etc. You will need the money!
Good Luck & Be Happy!

Temp agencies are a great place to find out what you are good at, gain experience, and also to get your foot in the door somewhere. You could also look into the government agencies--city, county, state--for receptionist positions (don't know what your skills are). That's what I did when I was your age, and I was able to be promoted, and have a decent job for many, many years--til I stayed home with our son and work from home--but that's another question. :-)
You could look into education...If you have no money for school, there are plenty of grants to apply for. Speak with a counselor at a local community college and find out what is available to you before you think it's a definite "no". I do wish I'd have done that so that I'd have more options if I ever need to work full time outside the home.
You still might have to work part time, if you are in school, but you could probably make it with grants, loans, etc.
Good luck!!!
***And please do not give your information to Larry D--he should never ask for that kind of information here!!***

Since you can't afford college now you might consider learning a trade. Electrician is what I would choose the work isn't as hard as a welder or pipe fitter and more choice of types of jobs.
Other than waitress no jobs for uneducated, unexperienced people are going to pay very well.
If you are being harassed at work complain to your boss. You don't have to put up with sexual or race or other types of harassment from coworkers or customers. Leaving with just leave the problem for the next person.

I feel for you; I don't have a degree either and I'm doing my best to support myself as well. Just keep applying for jobs. Maybe even work 2 part-time jobs to make up the difference if you need to. Try places like the bank--they usually have good starting pay and you don't need any college to be a Teller. You can maybe try waitressing or bartending, and make a lot of money in tips.

Go to a temporary agency like Western or Manpower. Get tested on your skills and they will suggest what you would be best at and also find you a job. You don't have to have a college diploma to get a good job, you just lack experience as that builds up you will be able to move up.

work as a cashier! the experience will help you learn customer communication and how to deal with impatient people. you will also gain a new appreciation for others in the same or similar jobs. you don't have to have any sales skills, just the ability to count. and if you do a good job (ie, don't steal) future employers will recognize your trustworthiness.

Um... join the police force. I know you don't need to go to college to become a police officer in Britain, but I'm not sure about the US, and I think it pays well. Oh and all you have to do are things like a written and fitness test which, I suppose, isn't all that bad.
