Is there some reason you don't want your mother to know you are getting the $60 cash?
You could always just cash the whole check at your bank. Then turn around and deposit the $100.

You should be able to. BUT, you will need more than the value of the check in your account for them to do it. Otherwise they would have nothing to deduct from you should the check bounce.
If they won't let you do that at your bank (and give you the old "you need your mom" bit) and if the check is drawn on a local bank, you can cash the check there and then only deposit however much you want into your bank.

On the deposit slip you can select how much cash you would like out of the deposit. You can deposit 100 and get 60 cash back.

Probably not, not unless you get your mom to sign the deposit slip with the $60 deduction listed on it.

Nope... they will not let you get cash back on the deposit.
That is a very old method tried for fraud, it is does not happen anymore.
(Not that you are trying to commit fraud, just that they dont allow it)
