I'm sorry, but if someone doesn't believe in evolution, they're simply ignorant. If someone believes the Bible is factual on every account, they're delusional. And if you think schoolchildren should be forced to choke on your myths, you're going to hell for completely disregarding the world god has put in front of you in favor of spreading lies and feeding power-hungry religious extremists.
I'm SO tired of this issue. Evolution isn't theory. It's as close to fact as it gets. I don't care whether you "believe" in it or not. It's not up for debate. If you want to hold on to your religious beliefs, you should work to make your belief system accommodate fact, not deny fact.
If evolution is debatable for you, take it to your church and keep it out of the public sector. Mankind has tolerated your selfish denials long enough, and it's time to move on.

It's not picking and choosing. It's reading Genesis allegorically.
The Bible isn't just a history book. There are some sections which are straight history (I and II Chronicles come to mind) but the rest is varying genres. It's a collection of books, some poetry, some drama, some allegorical, some letters, some prophecy, etc. It uses all sorts of metaphors and other literary devices. We should read it in light of this, not 100% literally.
If I accept evolution it doesn't mean I'm chosing from "the other side"...who says science is the opposing side in the first place? It means I don't take the creation account in Genesis literally because I don't believe it was meant to be read literally.

Well, the "dating" of the earth by the Bible is not an exact science. The Bible doesn't give a year when the world was created. The age of the earth has been estimated based on the begats and other events, so it can be quite incorrect.

i grow to be raised as a Christian yet I nevertheless settle for evolution. i visit describe why. God reported, "enable there be easy. " And He observed the sunshine grow to be good. i'm fairly effective that once the huge Bang got here about, there grow to be fairly some sunshine. i don't sense the previous testomony grow to be meant to be taken actually. Adam and Eve are symbolic of society on the time. i think of that's the think approximately historic previous whilst guy began to question himself approximately his very own morals. perhaps human beings the place taking off to be much less nomadic than interior the previous and hence had to take accountability for the relationships that they had with others around them. maximum Christians stay by employing the hot testomony. those are the instructions of Jesus. they're basic morals that certainly everyone could stay by employing.

The Bible doesnt teach that the earth is 10,000 years old. That is only a belief held by young earth creationists loosely based on the geneologies in the Bible. They are in the minority however. There are many more creationists theories which date the earth far older then that.
With that being said, I completely agree. People who cherry pick beliefs among worldviews have no ideas what theyre doing.

I don't take the Bible literally. I use it as a guide and remember that it was written and compiled by men and that Jesus and many of those who contributed to it used allegory and stories to make their points, not necessarily scientific fact. God speaks to us in the way we can most understand. Perhaps the people who wrote the Bible were not ready for the idea of evolution. But of course I could sit here all day and you wouldn't be willing to consider anything I had to say on this subject so I'm not sure why I bothered to give you a considered answer...

I don't believe that the theory of evolution has been proven, or dis-proven yet. It is still a theory, and I am open to the idea of it but not yet convinced of it.
Genesis was written to explain to our human mind how God created the Earth, not as a text book of historical fact. God's days could have lasted a million years each, fact is we do not know.
To Catholics it is much more important for us to know who our Creator is than exactly how he created us. We should be finding ways to help our fellow man instead of arguing over petty details.
Peace be with you!

They get off at the same exit you do. You believe what you want and they think its absurd too. It is the same as going to a different country. You think they talk funny and they think the exact same thing about you. People are allowed to believe in different things and if they want to take bits and pieces of different things and turn it into a belief then well thats their business. Personally I don't believe in evolution. I do believe that every one has the right to their own opinion.

I don't believe pieces of both.
I believe in all of the Bible, every word, just not a literal interpretation of some parts where it is clear a literal interpretation is not intended.
As for science, i wouldn't say i believe in it, i accept it based on the evidences it presents or I question it on the same basis.
