My husband did. But I think it may depend to a certain extent on what your specialty was. Best way to find out is call and ask them.

You may be able to get the same rank but it also depends on if you are going in the same job or not. there may not be a slot in your MOS where you are going. In Highly specialized jobs there are only so many slots for certain ranks, and if one is not open you might have to go somewhere else, or take a bust. if you are lower that an E-5 you should be fine. A Reruiter has the exact regulations on this and you should defenitely talk to one of them. Also, When you rejoin make sure that you have it WRITTEN in your contract that you will come back in as the same rank as you left or you could get screwed.

After so long of not re-enlisting, you lose a rank. I don't know exactly how long, though. I know that's how it is in the Navy and Marines. My friend got out of the Navy in early 2006 as an E-7, and re-enlisted a little over a year later as an E-6.

my brother was in the army for five years and gained the rank of e5 which is Sergent. He has been out now for about a year and a half he just got a letter saying he had to re-join he is joining the reserves and is going back as an e5 Sergent you will probably only lose rank if you re-enlist after you inactive dutie is up.

Can't speak for all of the services. But, I re-enlisted in the Navy after a four month break and lost one rank. They even had a name for that category which was derived from the phonetic alphabet symbol for the letter "R" on the recruiting categories: Romeo.

Probably not, but it would depend upon the job you're trying to rejoin in. If it is one that is in demand, you might be able to.
