Kendal Jackson Cabernet or Merlot.
Bout twenty dollars a bottle and is a very consisted great tasting Domestic wine.

Obviously, the one that you prefer yourself. There is far too much snobbery over wine, just drink and enjoy the ones that you like. Everyone will recommend a different wine, me, I prefer Merlot. Try them until you find one that you like then stick to it.

If you feel like venturing into the $20-$30 range, pick up a Pinot Noir made from grapes grown in the Willamette Valley in Oregon....

I would go with a Shiraz from Austrialia (aprox 7-8) usually very good, yellow tail or little penguin
If you really want a treat Avalon (in the orange label) is just to die for (its a cab sav). (closer ro 12)
